A local hospital here in PA...if you test possitive for nicotine or chew..
you WON'T GET A JOB.... un (bleeping) believable..... what next ? ppl need jobs....what is this world coming to.... Oh forget it....migraine today...to tired to articulate my opinion.... The news did say..what are we all going to be checked for medical problems.....and not be able to get jobs..... unbelievable is all I can say....... |

To me that's descrimination. Nicotine isn't an illegal drug . Set's off a chain reaction for all jobs. Soon other employers will follow their lead if they can get away with it.

fook em I wouldnt work for em and it's their loss not mine but it is our loss... what if u r a nurse or Doctor....are they exzept from this? Hospitals are in need of all aspects of different areas of employment... Example...Doylestown, PA , u throw a cig on the grownd and get caught..u can get a fine... thats different...it's a beautiful and clean environment for ppl to shop ,walk etc...ppl still smoke...but you still can get employment even if u smoke...... |

I was in Albuquerque once and I rolled down my window to flip my cigarette out
and this guy in the car next to me started yelling "Don't throw your cigarette butt on the street azzhole!" so I flipped it in his window instead |

I keep a bottle of water in my car....for emergencies...don't want to flick in front of a cop and I am very careful of bikers....wouldn't want to hit someone in the face with my cig... |

That's how it is in Ohio. Its freaking dumb if you ask me. One of the hosp is trying to get something to pass saying if your over weight you can't work there. Which is the dumbest thing I have EVER heard! WTF does it matter what I do in my free time. I never smoke on the job.

I don't smoke, don't like it...am actually allergic to it, but
to each their own. There certainly shouldn't be any type of discriminatory actions like this. |

I don't like it either and I smoke....but...when in crisis, they say oh the only Doctore we COULD HAVE HAD TO SAVE UR LIFE...he didn't get the job because he smokes... and over weight..again...stupid stupid stupid... next will be if u don't meet the criteria of looks..u aight getting a job..... u can stand in the welfare line....just don't wear jewelry...god forbid u ever in a life time own something of value....at least they don't care about smoking,weight or what u look like....YET.... |

Apparently it's the whole health care insurance risk thing. First of all, let me just state that I HATE it, and these bostids can all go to hell.  It used to be that smokers could not smoke on the job indoors. So they gave them a designated smoking area, and only on breaks. Then they said, you cannot smoke on company property. Now they are saying you cannot smoke - ever, not even at home, or anyplace else. Your private life is our business. So, that being said, a growing number of companies will FIRE you if they do a urine or blood test on you and find nicotine in the results. They don't want the healthcare risks, so they screw over their smoking employees, all to save a few bucks. Do not try to justify this to me, anyone. It sucks, and it's a lame policy, and I will never like it. |

You couldnt work there if you were a smoker. The argument was(you nailed it again) just the MERE FACT that an employer has employees who smoke raises their insurance rates,,,,,it sucks but its hard to legally refute. It could be in the future that we ARE required to have weight height proportions as well,,,that would suck too on the scale of individual choice but on the scale of overall health it might be a good thing too... history shows people RESPOND when you mess with their money, perhaps it would WHIP folks into gear about taking care of themselves.... |
