I finished his Sword of Truth series and started his new spin on the Rahl line this weekend. I think it's interesting that he chose to play with the supremely ungifted and make that world ours. any opinions?

Are you talking the books or the tv show?

The books are terrific, absolutely loved them. I'm EXTREMELY glad I read them, because if I'd seen the show first, I'd have been upset. LOL! Who am I kidding, I was highly pissed at the crappy TV show, and felt like he sold out.

i think i tried reading some of his stuff and didn't like his writing style. i find the show entertaining.

The books are way different then the TV show. They essentially took the names of the main characters and that was about it.

I enjoy the books...the series I watched a couple of episodes but gave up on it.

I loved the books. I refuse to watch the series because i like how i saw the characters, etc. besides, how could a TV series possibly match up to a book in any circumstance? Have you looked at his new series?

I haven't checked out his new series yet- but I'm definitely going to.

Like EquusDancer said, the TV series is just the character's names...the show itself is nothing like the books.

The basic plotline would be a start, as far as any similarities to the books. I know that books and TV shows/movies are never spot-on, but some would help. Heck, even Kahlan being the only one left alive would be good, but nooooo, no only do some of the other sisters survive, but her sister pops out a child who shouldn't exist!

I loved the sword of truth series, I haven't quite finished it yet as i am in the middle of the the wheel of time series lol. I'm gonna get back to it asap though.

I'm going to reread the Wheel of Time series. I picked up the last book, and since they should be able to get the two remaining out with the year, year and a half, I'll just go through them start to finish.

Wheel Of Time, that's another excellent series.

I also really like Stephen R Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series.

Yeah, it's too bad Robert Jordan died before finishing his work. I'm timid to try the new books coming out.

Thomas Covenant is a writer diagnosed with leprosy, his wife leaves him, the town shuns him, and after an accident he wakes up in another world. Thomas believes this is all delusions brought on by leprosy. The people of this world believe him to be the savior of The Land. All Thomas cares about is waking up out of the dream.
Of course there is a lot more to it than that. Thomas is definitely and anti-hero and you'll find yourself not agreeing with some of the actions he makes.

I've enjoyed all of Donaldson's books, not just the Covenant series, though I'm holding out on the most recent cluster of books, till they go to a normal paperback size.

That sounds pretty good. I'll have to pick up Lord Foul's Bane when i get a chance. I'll need something to do over summer break xD
