In that place in which we stand,

Lives the dreams, always to with-stand.

We find our lives, living in another land.

All in thoughts of a life-time planned.

Clear Blue skies listening to a summer street band.

Never ever thinking, love on demand.

Just me doing what I thought was GOD'S command.

Maybe some dreams should just be banned.

How long did it take you to find that many words that rhymed? Perhaps you should have taken that time to think about originality and true poetic style.

People post their work so people will read it, no? What you see as "mean," I see as honesty. To sugarcoat criticism doesn't do the poet any good, nor does it do the writer of prose any good, either.

I rewrote the introduction to my MA thesis over 12 times because my thesis director said it wasn't good enough. I didn't argue, I didn't get mad, I didn't get my feelings hurt. To be able to take criticism is a part of being a writer, and if a writer cannot take criticism, then he/she shouldn't post in a public place!

There is a standard for poetry--regardless of personal style. There is poor art, and there is good art. Good art lasts through the ages--ever heard of Shakespeare? There's a reason why you have. Ever heard of Colly Cibber? Bulwar Lytton? If you have, you are an English major or an aficionado of bad writing.

Wow, such controversial feelings of such few words written.
I'm glad I didn't really TRY to write a great poem here, but more a
open mind to share...lol.
I will say THIS. THANK YOU Miss Gossip,,,for defending the rights of the artists we have here, and of my own feelings to see here.
As for the tact of the critic, speaks volumes as to her personality, wink.
As WE say here,,,,,ITS ALL GOOD,,,wink...

Poems and the words used within them.
Paint a different picture in every persons own mind.
Some see the simple as being VERY full of thought and meaning.
Some see simple as a internal view of less than their own, inteligence.
Personally I see EVERYTHING, as if it was seen through that writers heart as the words mean little, as to the POINTS they were feeling and sharing when they wrote it.

drinker I am a simple-man, but never to be confused with a simple minded man, wink..
Any GOOD intellectual mind, should have the abilities to know and see through common thoughts, and words, to pull a deeper sense of placed values? If not, then MAYBE THAT individual is weaker in their own intelligence than THAT in which they criticize.
drinker    blushing

T, for anyone who 'know' you know that poetry is not your forte, but that said; we have all applauded your progress when it came to expressing your thoughts in prose/poetry/muses or whatever else anyone wants to call it. I personally have enjoyed your efforts, do not let any self appointed critic/fool tell you any different. Poetry writing is an expression of self.

To the lady in who has taken it upon herself to critique the work of others on this forum; we are not a professional poetry site but we do try to encourage those who have made the effort to share their work with us.
