Teacher Facing Assault Charge for Alleged Spanking David Lohr Contributor AOL News (July 30) -- A high school teacher in Connecticut is in hot water after spanking an unruly student, police say. Francis Hajosy, 54, of Stafford, has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace for the incident, which occurred last month in his classroom at Enfield High School, according to court documents. The incident was sparked when she put her feet on a desk, prompting Hajosy to say, "You know, you're not too big for me to put over my knee and spank," the Hartford Courant reported, citing the arrest affidavit. The student picked up a bottle of spray glue and sprayed it into the air, at which time Hajosy put his hands on her shoulders, authorities say. A brief scuffle ensued, during which the girl attempted to kick Hajosy; police say he responded by spanking her four times. After a school resource officer launched an internal investigation, Hajosy was questioned by police. He said, "I screwed up; I need to make it right," the court documents allege. Hajosy was subsequently arrested and ordered not to have any contact with the student. He was also been suspended from his job, pending the outcome of the investigation. Hajosy was arraigned Wednesday and released on $5,000 bond. If he wants to beat his kids that is one thing but not other people's children. probably what many parents think,, spanking is not beating, especially a child in high school, and if you hit someone or kick someone ,, expect a PHYSICAL reaction,,,, it would be different if he punched the girl, but she is high school age and KICKED him? and all she got was four swats on her uppity behind?,,,, society caters too much to brats,,, had I EVER thought of kicking a teacher, ,,,smh, it would be more than discipline from a teacher after I got home,, now parents jump up and cry dont touch my TEENAGE child even if they hit and kick you,,,?? please |

If you strike your child it is beating them.
Violence is violence, there is no justification unless it is self defense. This teacher had better choices to be made. |

well, maybe if the parents had taught some manners, he would not have made this mistake. We all have bad days.
I notice very few comments on the girls bad actions. On a bad day, what would you have done? Personaly, on being attacked with glue sprayed in my face. I would have gotten ahold of her arm, restrained her & marched her to the principles office. All a move of self-defense, her arm behind her back was justified as a means of stopping anymore attacks. If she got hurt, due to her actions, not mine. Two can play that game. |

Sage, I agree.
Restraint and proper quick authority involvement would have been a better choice. Blaming the parents is always a good fall back but there are good parents who have devil spawn children by no fault of their own too. Generalizing on that level is not accurate. |

4th degree sexual assault???  Was she hot? how did they manage that charge? yikes... big mistake that will surely follow him for the rest of his life. Punish him?.... YES Ruin his life?..... absolutely NOT! Strange how way more serious offences get slaps on the hand BUT a couple of slaps on someones buttocks means life! this guys luck.... he's fortunate they didn't label him a "dangerous offender" or worse "a pedophile"  |

I agree. I work for a very big school district and I see these brats catered to almost every day. They are allowed to disrupt the education of the students and the admin/teachers can't do anything about it. They are told "that's the way they are". I for one am sick of the kids running the schools. The staff of the schools hands are tied. The staff no longer have ANY authority in the classrooms. To me it's going the wrong way. I do agree that the teacher NEVER should have touched the brats ***, but the teachers should have authority in THEIR classrooms(especialy to defend theirselves). |
