Denny4844.....My husband was six and a half years older than me but we did great together and seemed close in age. He was the youngest of five brothers in his family and I grew up as an only child...I think our birth order and early background seemed to level things off between us...and we both enjoyed staying youthful....I wouldn't hesitate to date younger men....I dated a few younger guys earlier in life and all went well....Wishing you lots of happiness in your new relationship.

What do you all think are acceptable age gaps between partners? And are the criteria the same for men and women?

Most of my friends (male or female) are approximately 10 years younger than I am so it seems natural to me to be around people of that age group. I don't feel my age, either mentally or physically, and I find most people of my age too set in their ways and just not vibrant enough.

I'm now on the cusp of starting a relationship with someone 8 years younger than I am. But, I worry about what other people will think. I'd hate to be labelled a 'cradle-snatcher'!

And I know, I shouldn't worry about what other people think, but I do!

Is this too big a gap? And do you think I will be judged harshly by other people?

it's too big of an age gap if it makes u so uncomfortable that you ask others what they think and need that reassurance rather than believing in ur own judgement. How u feel about him is the only thing that matters

It is a personal preference between consenting adults. Personally, I don't have a strong feeling about it one way or the other, but I generally have more to talk about with men closer to my age- give or take, say 5-10 yearsflowerforyou

My dad was 12 and a half years older than my mom and they had 15 wonderful years together until his death in 99. I, myself, am generally attracted to men at least 3yrs older than myself. If I were older I would probably date younger but where I am right now in life, younger guys are way more immature.

I think as long as you share an emotional and mental connection (and you're both legal, of course), there's nothing wrong with dating someone younger/older.

I have dated guys younger, older, and even the exact same age...I just can't seem to get along with anybody. Maybe I'm a lost cause :)
