I have mixed feelings about Florida. I've lived ten years or so there, on & off. Currently off...

What I love about it is:

Water sports heaven.

fantastic scenery.

babes in bikinis.

a good mixed bag of folks from all over...

plenty of things to do.

mild winters.

picking my own oranges in my aunt's back yard.

There's more but those are the main things...

I'll skip what I don't like since no place is perfect and that's not the question...

I love Florida because it's where I was born. Being that my dad was in the Air Force, I've lived in other states and in Greece, so haven't been here all my life. He retired back in Florida, and I've been here ever since.

The one thing I will never like about Florida is the humidity at night time during the summer. Breaking a sweat while just sitting outside, not even having to move a muscle, and you'll feel sweat beading up lol.

At least I have family up north if I get the need to be in snow again, but don't know why I would, hehe. happy

I've lived in three states as a youngster. The first time I lived in Fla our little town had mainly dirt (sand)roads. We still had black bear roaming this area. We could take almost any road headed towards the gulf and fish without being harassed. We could swim in springs all over the place. But now our bear population moved northward, our fishing holes have been closed off, our natural habitat has turned to concrete buildings. Our wildlife is just people living wild lives. You take a walk at a local park and there's a chance you will see an old hypodermic needle or other things contaminated by humans enjoying themselves with no respect to nature, animals or other humans. But ever so often you can get out in a nature park and sit quietly and suddenly a few dear will walk through. Or maybe you're snorkeling and a manatee swims passed. There are the sunsets. We also have many great people that want to preserve Florida's natural habitats. And Florida has some really weird places and crazy history. (Maybe I'm a little too passionate about Florida. I might need professional help -lol)

Great first post and welcome to Mingle 2.......now that I am back in my hometown.....I am finding myself more and more disappointed with my natural areas being eradicated into condos.......as the area grows everything important diminishes.....but enough off topic this is about what we love not our disappointments...its about finding the beauty that is left for me.............

New to Florida, and I LOVE it, no snow, beautiful beaches, fresh air, being able to actually see the stars, and Disney.
