California attorney Orly Taitz today secured an order from United States District Court Magistrate Judge Richard L. Puglisi demanding representatives of the Hawaii Department of Health appear in federal court Sept. 14 to show why Taitz should be prevented from seeing whatever original 1961 documents the agency has on record regarding Barack Obama's birth.

Taitz returned to federal court in Honolulu today after Hawaii DOH officials presented her with a letter refusing to comply with her subpoena on grounds that Hawaii privacy laws prevented officials from releasing Obama birth records to the public.

The ExParte Emergency Motion for Order to Show Cause and to Compel Attendance for Production of Documents that Taitz filed with the federal magistrate asked the court to demand Hawaii DOH head Loretta Fuddy appear in court to explain why she would not comply with the subpoena.

"Getting a federal judge to demand Fuddy's attendance at a show-cause hearing is a victory," Taitz said. "I will return to Hawaii on Sept. 14 and I expect then to be able to force the Hawaii DOH to turn over the relevant records as demanded by the subpoena."

The subpoena comes in a case she has developed in Washington, D.C., seeking the original application for Obama's Social Security number, a document that could provide significant information about the president's early life that relates to his eligibility.

It is being heard by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Royce Lamberth.

You are not assigned a SSN when you are born.

You don't get one till you start working.

IT all depends upon WHEN you were born. I did not have a number until I started working. My daughter received one within a week of being born.

But basically, yeah, what would be the judges reason for demanding the state revise their policy regarding the privacy of such documents for citizens?

Snopes has continuously discredited this legend over and over, but it keeps getting revised in one form or another.

Not to mention this 'taitz' has repeatedly brought such requests and been sanctioned for misconduct in bringing forth such a request.

No, it's that endlessly giving crackpots soapboxes to stand on sooner or later bores the audience and isn't news.

Just like it's not news that Jerome Corsi and WND will never admit they are wrong no matter how much proof is tendered. They are making money off the controversy, so why should they? And why should the 'mass media' (of which Fox News is a part, BTW) help them?

I was born in California and I got my SS in Colorado. In my day SS was only required when you joined the work force.

I personally think it is possible that Obama might have been adopted, but that probably has nothing to do with where or when he got his SS number.

Obama is probably blood related to the Queen of England (as most presidents are) and I heard that The Crown contributed the money for his political campaign.

Ummmm, that's not true. You get one as a baby when your parents apply. You don't get one when you start working.

It was probably not that way when Obama was born. That has only been recently changed. How old is Obama?

You are correct Jen, I'm 42 and I didn't get one until my first job. Gosh, and I thought the conspiracy theorist about 911 were bad. Question- If someone does eventually prove that he is not a US citizen, what's it going to do for us exactly? Erase our debt? LOL Seriously, how is it going to benefit the average citizen?

That may be true now, but for most of the history of SS, you applied for your number when you started work. I didn't get mine until I was 16.

yeah, when barack was born in 1961 it wasnt REQUIRED at birth, although his was issued just four days later on August 8th, 1961.
