It was all over a month ago. Romney will be the nominee. The rest of the
mudslinging is just comedic fodder for Jon Stewart and Colbert.

The field is now so hobbled and lame and soiled that no amount of Santorum
or Ron Paul will ever clean it up now. Romney will be the big weener but
I think George Will is right and the best strategy now is to simply see if
the GOP can make some inroads in the Senate and House but it will be an
uphill battle there too at this point.

GEORGE WILL:
Forget Beating Barack This Year, Win The Senate And Thwart His Agenda From Congress

Michael Brendan Dougherty | March 02, 2012

Republicans know in their hearts that they are going to have a tough time convincing America to elect Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney.

So conservative eminence George Will is giving them some advice: forget about beating Barack, we can only hope to contain him from the Senate.

Via Tim Mak at Politico, we get a glimpse of Will's upcoming Sunday column:

Romney and Rick Santorum ... are conservatives, although of strikingly different stripes. Neither, however, seems likely to be elected. ... If either is nominated, conservatives should vote for him. But ... there would come a point when ... conservatives turn their energies to a goal much more attainable than ... electing Romney or Santorum president. It is the goal of retaining control of the House and winning control of the Senate. ... [C]onservatives this year should have as their primary goal making sure Republicans wield all the gavels in Congress in 2013.

"If Republicans do, their committee majorities will serve as fine-mesh filters, removing President Obama's initiatives from the stream of legislation ... [A] re-elected Obama -- a lame duck at noon next Jan. 20 -- would have a substantially reduced capacity to do harm. ... From Louisiana's Gov. Bobby Jindal to Wisconsin's Rep. Paul Ryan, Republicans have a rising generation of potential 2016 candidates. ... [T]he presidency is not everything, and there will be another election in the next year divisible by four."

The excerpts from the column don't note that the task of winning the Senate became much more difficult with the retirement of Olympia Snowe in Maine.

I predict Gingrich will take Georgia.

Because it's his home state. He won it by a large margin and he also won it faster then Romney won Michigan.

Romney's won three states (One of which he and Ron Paul were the only two on the ballots and he still won by over 20%, time for Ron Paul to take the hint and get out of the race), Santorum has won two and looks like he will win Ohio which makes three and Gingrich has won Georgia. There is still like three states up for grabs tonight and I hope Santorum takes them.

Romney is coming off really arrogant and acting like he is entitled to the nomination.

Also I have supported Newt from the beginning BUT I am rather dissapointed in him right now. He stated before the Florida primaries if he started winning states he would ask Santorum to step aside and get behind him so they could take out Romney, but now that Santorum is winning states he wont do what he suggested Santorum should do. Newt is proving he is only out for himself.

Actually that wont happen unless Multiple Choice Mitt or Paul get the nomination. Hell, Obama even lost fifteen counties yesterday to an unknown Democratic challenger.

"The longer this goes out, the worse our chances are," McCain said of the Republican primary. "I have to tell you, it makes me very worried about our chances to win in November."

The five-term senator and 2008 Republican presidential candidate noted that the longer a hard-fought race continues, the more a candidate's unfavorable ratings are driven up. It leaves a candidate vulnerable to making more gaffes and creating a negative impression in voters' minds.

"You know that every single day of a campaign is a day you can't do over," he said.

In an alternate universe, Ron Paul is kicking Obamney's a$$. Knowing that, I am happy. Just wish I was there
