obviusly alot depends on the criteria for THE BEST....certainly longetivity is a requirement - "ever" implies some time has transpired to earn the title....and I think that's valid. it does not mean there is not a lot of great new music there is. So I think it's valid to have current favorites that may not qualify as "best ever" some of the best bands ever haven't ever been my personal favorites but they qualify due to their outstanding careers, quality song writing - but maybe weren't so much my style...like the Stones or Pink Floyd My choice would be Led Zepplin, and more recently Pearl Jam
