Well I would say you were born Catholic but later decided that
Catholicism wasn't for you. That's fine. I respect your choice.
Many if not most people do not reject the religion of their parents
when they grow up.

In marriages with people from two different religious backgrounds
usually the children are accepted by either religion and it is up
to the parents to decide which religion they wish to follow if any.
For most marriages between people with different religious beliefs
religion just isn't very important to them or otherwise they would
have found a mate with similar religious beliefs or one of the
parents would convert. So children of mixed marriages are both
religions and have genetic makeup from both religious groups.

There is no reason to deny that kids born to Jewish parents aren't
Jewish.

laugh

I wasn't born Catholic...I was born..no stamp on my forehead

I didn't reject the religion of my parents...I simply rejected religion....I have been a free thinker since I reached the use of reason.

Religion is for those who need to be guided.

I have seen the light.drinker

That is a negative, narrowminded and condescending view of religion.
I can say this because I am actually truly a free thinker and am not
biased either way toward or against religion.

You may say that you were not born Catholic but according to your
earlier post you say that you were raised and educated as a young
Catholic and rejected that doctrine later.

Blanket rejection of religion is only for the psychologically
infirm who fear to consider a power higher than themselves or those
who are afraid to take on the issues of virtue, evil, ethics and
the origin of life. Blanket rejection of religion is also a form of
disrespect of the value and meaning of others religious beliefs.
It is a simple and undemanding form of intolerance.

Some people like to stay in their tiny sandbox and others are
willing and able to consider the meaning of the infinite.

Utterly ridiculous.

Religion itself is unscientific illogical dogma that has kept humankind under the thumbs of the elite deceivers (and liars) for centuries.

Consideration of a power higher than ones self can be done without the trappings of man made and man controlled religion based on childish myths.

I need no authority to tell me how to find reverence for life, nature, god, or the marvel of existence. I don't need a cult of story tellers to tell me how to live. The fact that I exist at all is miracle enough.

The world would be better off if they would learn how to handle the truth and put childish myths behind them.

The whole ridiculous idea that a god has a "chosen people" to whom he promised a land, and then when they finally found it after 40 years of wandering in the desert were ordered by god to kill "without mercy" all the inhabitants including women and children and animals, is completely ridiculous.

Don't worry, the story is not true. Its a myth.

If it were true, how many people would want to worship a ruthless heartless merciless god like that anyway? Oh yeh..... apparently a lot of people.

I find that unbelievable. I am horrified by the bloody cult called Christianity, and I am perplexed by the other illogical religions that stem from the mythical King David. But the only reason I think this dogma should be exposed is because it is being used to control the world's people and create wars.

And the wars are not about religion at all. Wars are used by the elite to acquire the real wealth of this planet. They don't care who gets killed either. The more people who die, the better they like it. They want to reduce the population of the world by 3/4 or 2/3 anyway.

So don't sing the praises of religion to me. Its time for the truth about Santa Claus to be known too. Stop lying to your children.

Stop lying to yourselves.

More from the Wiki article
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Liberty_incident

NSA tapes and recent developments

Within an hour of learning that the Liberty had been torpedoed the
director of NSA, LTG Marshall S. Carter, sent a message to all
intercept sites requesting a special search of all communications
that might reflect the attack or reaction. No communications were
available. However, one of the airborne platforms, a U.S. Navy
EC-121 aircraft that flew near the attacks from 2:30 p.m. to 3:27
p.m., Sinai time (1230 to 1327 Z), had collected voice
conversations between two Israeli helicopter pilots and the control
tower at Hazor Airfield following the attack on the Liberty.[76]

On July 2, 2003, the National Security Agency released copies of
the recordings made by the EC-121 and the resultant translations
and summaries.[77] These revelations were elicited as part of a
Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Florida bankruptcy judge and
retired naval aviator Jay Cristol. Two linguists who were aboard
the EC-121 when the recordings were made, however, have claimed
separately that at least two additional tapes were made that have
been excluded from the NSA releases up to and including a June 8,
2007, release.[6]

English transcripts of the released tapes indicate that Israel
still believed it had hit an Egyptian supply ship even after the
attack had stopped.[78][79] After the attack, the rescue
helicopters are heard relaying several urgent requests that the
rescuers ask the first survivor pulled out of the water what his
nationality is, and discussing whether the survivors from the
attacked ship will speak Arabic.[80]

A summary report of the NSA-translated tapes[81] indicates that at
1234Z Hatzor air control began directing two Israeli Air Force
helicopters to an Egyptian warship, to rescue its crew: "This ship
has now been identified as Egyptian." The helicopters arrived near
the ship at about 1303Z: "I see a big vessel, near it are three
small vessels..." At 1308Z, Hatzor air control indicated concern
about the nationality of the ship's crew: "The first matter to
clarify is to find out what their nationality is." At 1310Z, one of
the helicopter pilots asked the nearby torpedo boats' Division
Commander about the meaning of the ship's hull number: "GTR5 is
written on it. Does this mean something?" The response was:
"Negative, it doesn't mean anything." At 1312Z, one of the
helicopter pilots was asked by air control: "Did you clearly
identify an American flag?" No answer appears in the transcript,
but the air controller then says: "We request that you make another
pass and check once more if this is really an American flag."
Again, no response appears in the transcript. At about 1314Z, the
helicopters were directed to return home.

The war is not about religion at all.

It is only about religion. The Arabs did not make peace when they
were given responsibility over the West Bank. They did not make peace
when they were given the Gaza strip. Arafat did not accept an offer
of 97% of the land plus swaps for the remainder and a Palestinian
capital in E Jerusalem!

Israel has no problem telling lies, even to their own people/military. So we are left to decide whether we should think of them as just stupid bungling inept and incompetent, or master deceivers and liars.

Personally, I prefer not to underestimate them.

Religion is used by the elite to manipulate the masses.

The Arabs are smart enough to know that the Jews invading their land are not religious people. The term "Jew" today is not about religion, its about certain bloodlines of a certain tribe of white Europeans who claim to be Jewish.

If you really still think wars are about religion then you are still being manipulated by the elite and by propaganda. People need to open their eyes and stop lying to themselves. Stop being manipulated.

No one can tell another person what to believe or what god to worship. They can only force their will upon you and take your power by force.

People fight for freedom.

Freedom is paramount.

There are plenty of so-called Christians who are liars about that too.

But it is a fact that the definition of "Jewish" and people who claim to be Jewish say that they don't practice the religion at all. Their "Jewish" claim is strictly a blood line because they have a Jewish mother.

You won't find a gene that can be traced that they call a "Christian" gene will you? NOPE!!

So a Jew can be a Jew and an atheist. But a Christian can't claim to be both a Christian and an atheist.

Well...as many of us have already pointed out...repeatedly

There is verified scientific DNA analysis for the common genetic
ancestry of different Jews from all over the world! Your claim that
Jews don't practice Judaism is as absurd as saying Muslims don't
practice Islam or Christians don't practice Christianity or
Americans don't live in America!!

laugh

Anyway, since you have admitted to knowing nothing at all about
the Jewish religion then that would certainly make any comment
you wish to make about Jews completely worthless and without any
foundation or understanding whatsoever!

Now you are being completely absurd and ridiculous.

I don't discuss Judaism. I care nothing any of the specifics of any of the fake Abrahamic religions. Same goes for the Muslim religion or even Christianity.

A "Jew", as I have been told hundreds of time over by people like you, has to do with the bloodline -- not the religion. Otherwise, people who don't devoutly follow the religion should not be calling themselves "Jewish." PERIOD!!

There is verified scientific DNA analysis for the common genetic ancestry of different Jews from all over the world!

And so what? I am betting that not all Jews are related or have a common genetic marker. A lot of them probably do.

90% of all people who call themselves "Jewish" are white European Jews whose ancestors originated out of Europe. Or, they are minorities like Linda Lou Chavez who has a mexican father and a Euro Jewish (by blood), mother. Yep, they are probably all related genetically.

Some of them may pretend to practice the religion, but I'm betting that a lot of them don't give a hoot about it but they still insist that they are "Jewish."

"Jewish" is not a religion. Judaism is.

And like Linda Lou Chavez, she calls herself "Latino" (probably ashamed to call herself Mexican) and she is also a bona fide Jew by blood, and yet calls herself a Catholic.

Chaster, I am waiting. Please tell me, once and for all, what being "Jewish" means?

Must you be a devout religious practitioner of Judaism to be Jewish?

What if you are a devout practitioner of Judaism and you do not have the Jewish gene passed down by your mother and you have not been "allowed" to convert and accepted as Jewish? What are you to call yourself then?

What if you have a Jewish mother and bona fide bloodlines but you are an atheist or a Catholic? What are to to call yourself then?

I don't really care, I just wish people would make up their minds.

Race or religion? Make up your minds.

You see, that makes no sense.

To call "Jewish" a religion makes no sense because there are thousands of people called "Jewish" who do not practice Judaism.

Since there are people of all races and ethnicity who practice the religion and call themselves "Jewish" it make no sense to call it a race or even a ethnicity.

They need to make up their minds.

I vote that they stop calling themselves Jews unless they practice the religion. There are many who have done that. They live among us.
