Aching, slumping armchair siege. Worn defense, Citadels stagnant stance. Jumbled memories, motions, emotions. Yesterdays, yesteryears. Morphine madness pains. Drift, drifting, adrift. Jolted dreams! My sons, my sons are where? Weary,so,so weary, Closing my eyes. I see eyes, Are those eyes? Madness has mirth? Portend beyond glass. With sleight of hand he taps, rattles and unhinges, the window. Cold. quiet eyes fixate, Strong arm beckons. Terror numbs, Cows behind confusion. Fear snowballs, Chilling bones, chattering teeth. Alarm timely rings across failing face. Death blow raised high, accurate and true. Azraels' Gift steals anew, The last gasp,the last grasp Of armchair blues. Fallen, Beneath Pale Riders' eternal hooves.

This reminded me of Amado Nervo's version of Azrael...Amado was a poet and diplomat who studied for the priesthood but ultimately abandoned it for writing...He was considered the most distinguished Mexican poet of the 19th and early 20th century... His version for you Ladywind.... Azrael, abre tu ala negra, y honda, cobíjeme su palio sin medida, y que a su abrigo bienechor se esconda la incurable tristeza de mi vida. Azrael, ángel bíblico, ángel fuerte, ángel de redención, ángel sombrío, ya es tiempo que consagres a la muerte mi cerebro sin luz: altar vacío… Azrael, mi esperanza es una enferma; ya tramonta mi fe; llegó el ocaso, ven, ahora es preciso que yo duerma… ¿Morir…, dormir…, dormir…? ¡Soñar acaso!

Interesting Leigh. I am about to train to go into a religious vocation. Poetry is my 3rd passion. I will enjoy the translated poem I am sure. The angel of death needs to take a vacation here... :-(
