Some people are born wayyyy ahead of their time, whilst others are nostalgic of a time gone by...such as myself.

I would be happy if it was perpetually the 70's

What about you?

1950s

big block 350s and guys loved to show off their rides (actually that is 60s and early 70s too - not sure if GM made those engines that early as 1950 - but in the 50s the guys did love to show off their rides, anyway)

and guys knew how to flirt and there was no whining about paying for a date...

they'd clean up on saturday nights and come honk the horn to take their girls out riding

leathers were cool and people danced in the diners - it wasn't like some big expensive thing to go out dancing - peeps just showed up after school or if in college, between classes - dropped a few quarters in the juke and played Brenda Lee and Bill Halley

and we girls got to dress up

I am obsessed with the fashion of those times vis vie Jane Russell, Hepburn, Marilyn I WANT THOSE CLOTHESsad

I agree...the fashion of that era was very flattering to the hourglass figure. And i loved the simplicity of tee & denims on the men.

Ohhh...and the cars!!...such beautifully classic lines as opposed to now.

A great era :-)

You forgot to mention all of the racial discrimination that occurred during that era.

If you want to go back to a previous era in time, then you have to go back to all of it, not just to the parts that you like.

I think the 70s were my preferred time too,, families and communities were built up and strong, values had as much impact as profit, companies 'looked out' for employees, people stood for something, and stood together

most of the music and entertainment promoted committed relationships and romance, and not as much 'casual' sex and lust and nudity,,,

and the music and clothes were cool too,,,lol

Feel free to go back to all of it if you wish to Dodo. I'm quite happy window shopping at the parts i like ;-)

If you were to use some kind of time machine to travel back to the era in time of your choice, then you wouldn't be able to just window shop. You would have to deal with the things in the era that you don't like, as well as the things that you do like.

A trip back to the 1950s would be a trip back to a time of racial segregation.

The 70's: The music, the movies (especially horror and exploitation), I'd love to go New York, and experience seeing movies at the 42 Street theaters during that time. Also be a part of the whole van culture scene.

If you want to talk about elements within a previous era that you like, then I'll go along.

However, the OP pertains to eras in general, not to positive elements within eras.

Here is how I would re-word the OP: What elements in previous eras of time would you like to see exist again?

I really think you need to focus on what interests you rather than lecturing or criticizing others
