In the subject of soul mates... what if you did find someone so much like you -- but the opposite sex -- and you felt like you had met a different version of you?

Would you like them? Would you get bored with them?

Don't we like this world because of the challenges of all the different variety and diversity here?

Don't we need to meet new people with different points of view to learn things from?

Would you really be content living your whole life with basically a clone of yourself?

Do you see and recognize yourself in others?

yes I would be happy with someone like myself as I like myself and I think the things I like are interesting. having someone with a similar sense of humor and similar attitudes about "whatever"....I mean my basic outlook on people in general is "whatever"

and I don't like to debate. diversity is interesting but not to the point where I'd want to make a lot of adjustments just to live with someone who does not have a lot in common with me

I would absolutely love being with someone like that. I have so many varied interests that I doubt I'd be bored with someone who shared most or all of them, and frankly I prefer to be with a mate who shares my attitudes and basic beliefs. I have plenty of diversity among my friends, but I need to have most things in common with a long-term or life partner.

I've tried being with guys who were markedly different from me, and generally speaking it is in the area of those differences that we first begin to fall apart.

Well I kinda like myself...geesh, I put enough time into getting me the way I want me...but I already HAVE one. slaphead

No, I don't want a clone of myself. I don't want someone who has my same opinions on every issue.

What I do think are positive similarities that will help a couple go the distance are morals/ethics, communication styles and general outlook on life. That's what I think I've picked up from successful couples.
