Topic: Soft acoustic?

Hi guys, I play acoustic guitar and need idea's for some new songs to learn. I have been learning so much Jack Johnson recently that my fingers are bleeding, even if i wasnt around in the 'summer of 69' Picture the scene: Sunset on a beach (dont get that much in Scotland!), campfire, few beers: Whats the ideal song???

there's alot of options because there;s a lot of good acoustic out there, but even most of the ramped up stuff sounds good unplugged I'd vote to start with some lowell george, steve earle, or lyle lovett or something you have composed your self. :)

Lowell George hada band called Little Feat....not sure that they fall into a category though....lol :) if you care for American folk music, then surely you have heard of Dylan? Taj Mahal?

Taj Mahal? don't forget Gordon lightfoot some awsome songs true I also think of people like joni mitchell who is an excellent acoustisc guitarist.... Car On A Hill....reminds me of waiting for my ex boyfriend who is late for everything....what a dork..lol Mary Chapin Tracy Chapman's "Used To Be A Sailor" would be an excellent bit of acoustic for a small beach campfire gathering "I used to be a sailor, sailed upon the sea" and we scan the horizon to watch for the ships at sea .... like wives and fathers longing for their loved ones.... Tracy Chapman may be the best suggestion :)

Folk music is what its all about! Dylan was one of my inspirations in me playing guitar...although i think that could be said of most people that have every picked one up! If you like Dylan, you should listen to a lad from Sheffield in England called Jake Bugg. The song is called 'country song' - he sounds scarily like Dylan

arctic monkeys , best band lately Used to listen to a lot of the monkeys, back in the day. The last i realy saw of them though was @ the Olympics Whatever happened to the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Keane and Snow Patrol??? Jake Bugg is all i seem to listen to in the car at the minuite :)

We done "Chasing Cars" - Snow Patrol with the band, acoustic guitar. Some 6 singers, absolutely wonderful! Road Trippin - Chili Peppers is amazing! Lover of the Light - Mumford & Sons (probs more Mumford & Sons songs are great to do!) I always loved to play "Never going back" - Fleetwood Mac Whiskey in the Jar Creedence Clearwater Personally always loved playing blues on the guitar. Love my flats, haha.

Hey Brian , if you're into alternative might want to check out the band My Morning Jacket ...They blend alternative country, folk rock, and psychedelic rock to create a cool, sexy soft acoustic sound...Their song "Black Metal" is awesome...Representing the ladies is the beautiful songbird/songwriter/acoustic guitarist Abra Moore...Try her "Everything Changed" album, it's kind of a recap of a lot of her earlier stuff...I especially like the song "I Do"...

Funnily enough, Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons is a personal favourite. I couldnt believe it when i found out they werent Irish!!

Also love all the Celtic folk songs - Wild Mountain Thyne by the High Kings is one of my favourites. Not sure if anyone has heard of the singer Paolo Nutini? Hes from around my area. Bumped into him so many times. Nothing like a star that doesnt forget their roots

As far I'm concerned,, the US has the best folk music,, Dylan is cool and are so many others
