The 80s music was great, lots of it still gets sampled, cos it was good. The fashion was awesome, best so far, and who the heck watched MTV????
The 80's were effing awesome!

I love 80's music. Especially 80's goth, and new wave. Even Alice Cooper released a new wavish album Flush The Fashion, which is great.

GM's "Faith" is fantastic start to finish. In the 60's we learned how to produce, in the 70's we produced, in the 80's we learned how to reproduce. The 80's musically was every bit as important as the 60's. It was also every bit as important for culture to take the next step.

The 80's didn't make sight and sound, it made sight and sound real.

sorry, off topic, maybe

I'd say it's more on topic than the OP.

Yes, I've had plenty of fun in my life. Don't like bland comercialised boyband crap though.

I've still got a t-shirt from a Hawkwind concert that I went to in the eighties. I lived through that era and the stuff in the charts was mostly rubbish and for girls and gays.

Oh yeah though. I went to London in 87, I think it was, to see Bowie play at Wembley. He was past his best though and so were most of the decent bands.

Where I grew up, if you weren't into crap chart pop music you were either a punk, or into heavy metal, or you were a mod and liked bands like Madness and shite like that. I liked heavy metal and the first gig I was at was Iron Maiden and that was cool.

I tend to listen to sixties and seventies music because that's when it actually meant something and it wasn't just a singalong for a bunch of people that just follow fashion.

I prefer to just go with the flow and enjoy what there is, now.
I like all kinds of music myself, can appreciate dub-step, hard rock, pop, disco, whatever.
Liked Albannach so much that we done it ourselves on stage with a group of ppl, wonderful! Bagpipes done on electric guitar, smoke machine with it, was stunning, audience loved it, haha
I can enjoy most music except country & western
And to me the 80s were wonderful to grow up in, going out and stuff :) But I must admit that Marilyn Manson's version of "Tainted love" beats 80s Soft Cell hands down!
And the clothes ... Wonderful! hairstyles too

Got carried away, almost forgot this was about sex. Well, first time was in the eighties too, so there, hahaha

Well, I had long hair and I don't know if you ever saw a comedy show called The young ones but everyone at school called me "Neal" or "hippy" and a lot of other names that weren't so nice.

There was a TV show on the new TV channel 4 called The tube and it was a music show and it was alright but most of the music was too trendy for my taste.

It was post punk, new wave, new romantic stuff for poofs as far as I was concerned and I liked all of the long haired heavy rock that had become unfashionable because of punk. Did get into Bowie in the eighties though and cut my hair like Ziggy. There was a Doors revival in the eighties because of a book that came out and I got into them. Then shared a flat with some hippies and discovered a lot of music through them.

Apart from that I got into the blues because I played the guitar and started collecting old country blues records.

I just didn't like the eighties. We had Margaret Thatcher and all of her crap but the upside of it was that there were all of the people on the left that hated Thatcher and all of that greed and commercialism. I wasn't really a fan then but I like Billy Bragg and have seen him live a couple of times. Saw him play in a club in Amsterdam actually and I don't think that any of the Dutch punters in the audience got it at all but I did because I was there and remember the miners strike and all of that. Basically, Duran Duran and Culture Club and all of that shite was irrelevant and had nothing to do with people's lives. Self indulgent garbage.

George Michael, wasn't in Wham, then. So it wasn't a boyband. The album Faith, was his 1st solo one. Hard to beat The Stone Roses and Acid House, for my generation, of 80s music though!
