I'm writing because I was talking to someone on here and they're not who they said they were. Of course that's the chance you rake when you do online dating. This guy told me everything Iwanted to hear. Well we talked for about 4 months. So after a month I deleted account, thinking he did too. Not!!! So out of couriosity, I look on here, look up username, there he was, on here. So just be careful what you believe when they tell you all you want to hear.

How can you take anyone serious if you have not met this person? Also why did you assume he would want to take his name off this site? You are confused about your role and his in this endeavor and would benefit with a consult to learn better communication skills as this is just pen pals ...

If he gave you no clue you were going to be exclusive, there's no reason to expect he would deactivate his account. Then it's just your own expectations. This is where many people go wrong, I think mostly women, assuming you are in a relationship or exclusive etc. The best thing is to address this issue and talk about it, not assume.
Also, if he is still here, doesn't mean he's still actively looking / talking to other women.
So unless you know this for sure, you are again assuming.
And even if he is still active here, it might not be a lost cause. Maybe it is, not enough information to base an opinion on.
If you have real reason to know / think he's not for real, learn from it. Next time talk about these things and don't think/expect/assume you are in a relationship or both wanting to go exclusive too soon.

Hope you don't let it affect you too much, there are good guys out there!
Good luck

Well he did say he was only talking to me and I believed him, saying he doesn't even get on site anymore. So I assumed nothing, just took his word cause he sounded honest and truthful. I know you can't judge one by all.

There are fake profiles on here. I've come across a few. Thankfully I didn't talk to them. If something doesn't make sense that he says then dont fall for it. Call him out on his BS! Stand up for yourselves and don't become a victim of Internet scam artists!! Just beware because they are out there

That is the exact reason why I'm not going to fall for a person so easily. They've seriously got to prove themselves.

Four months is a long time. I guess he got tired of waiting so he decided to keep his options open. There's a lesson to be learned here I'm sure.

I agree it was wrong of him to lie to you about deactivating his account. Even if he wanted to stick around for friends, it would have been better to be upfront about it. Unfortunately, there are a lot of dishonest people in the world. On the other hand, there are decent people, too, so I hope you find one that makes you happy. Don't give up.flowerforyou

The same thing happened to me. The person also was not involved in the forums so they stuck around for dating. I felt foolish but chalked it up to experience and moved on. Nothing lost nothing gained. Best of luck to you.

Hi Sunshine

Sorry this happened (it's the internet).

A question or two for you.

Did you guys only talk by email or chat some how or did you have phone calls and Skype?

It's not that hard really to reach certain levels of transparency if you both agree to them and when things do reach those levels if the transparency is not put in place the red flags should fly.

Believe but verify. A decent guy will see it as a chance to be caught being good.

People that try to play the exclusive let's start isolation card is one you know is trying to cover their tracks out of site.
