It's certainly a stereotype but my last serious relationship was with a guy that ran his own haulage business (basically just drove up and down the UK in a van/lorry for two weeks at a time). I believe he was faithful though. It really depends on the man, not the profession, as I know it can get really lonely doing that kind of work. He'd get upset if I was busy whilst he was away and just wanted to talk. Our phone bills were huge!

It certainly happens. I've got a friend whose father was a truck driver and he cheated and had a whole second family.

My grandfather was also a truck driver. My mother said he would go and stay gone for a year at a time and then just come home. From my understanding, he had several wives and children my mother never knew about until she was grown. THere could be several still that are unknown.

Depends on the driver. Some are bad some are good.

I think it is a lot how the guy conducts himself. If they have the entitled attitude and think that their money allows them to do as they please well things might be a big risk.

If they are a little reserved and responsible, exercise a little self control with you chances are a lot better they are going to exercise self control for you.

Not all men run their life with their little head. Yesh !

Speaking from the truck drivers point of view, having been a truck driver for the last 25 years, and being married for 21 of those years, it was my ex doing the cheating while I was out making the money. No I have never cheated, but I have morals.

Sorry Driver. You are one of many drivers I have known from days when I was airbrushing trucks who came home unexpected and caught the Mrs. fooling around. Keep your chin up not all women are like that.

It's True! I worked for a Trucking company.. a big trucking company, where the men traveled from state to state.

One guy was so bad, he had 8 child support orders from 5 different women AND ALL of the kids were CLOSE in ages! GRRRROSSS!

Another one, who was playing 2 women and one of them came up to the plant with a knife! We had to call the police on her!

I personally would never date a truck driver. Not that anyone couldn't be a sleazy womanizer.. but the cases are higher with OVER the road truck drivers.

Another Truck drivers point of view. Yeah that type of Truck driver that frequents booty calls, is active with Lot Lizards (Prostitutes) runs rampant in the industry.

I myself just stayed to myself and often times had to keep my curtain closed with low lighting just so the "Lizards" would not knock and that didn't always prevent it as they would just knock anyways.

I also knew several "Drivers" that were good Men. Had loving wives,Children,Girlfriends and always were Gentlemen.

In any profession or lifestyle that type of Man, or Woman exists. Really you must evaluate the individual and not stereotype them ahead of type but certainly do look at everything.

I hated to just drop that brand of men in a box. I have long time friends who are also drivers. You can't always tell, however, from the outside what is happening there in the inside. From what I have heard, just on this forum, it is as with any other profession. Good and bad. Thanks for your POV.

I'm sure there are jerks in every profession, but I've heard several similar stories to this one. I feel like if you know you can't deal with being away from your partner for a period of time, you should go into a field where that isn't necessary, not cheat with the excuse that you couldn't help yourself because you were lonely or horny or whatever.

I drive a truck for a living and I've met some drivers like that, but the large majority are good honest men (for the most part).
