Its hard enough to date in today world, but being a black woman (ut) is even harder. You have to be either light skinned of mixed to get any attention from a desent man. Black men dont want us, white men too good for us & seem like every other culture stick with their own. We are being degraded &bashed. Is im missing something?

Have you considered the possibility that your dating problem is linked to where you live?

Why live in Salt Lake City when there are plenty of fish in other cities outside of Utah?

The white-ness of Salt Lake City may not be the only reason. There are white men who are willing to date black women.

I don't live in the US and it is clear from topics here that the black & white thing is still a major issue over there.
But I'm thinking, it can't be that most/all black men want a white woman? Maybe it depends on the type of man you're after?
And you seem to contradict yourself as you say lighter or mixed women do get attention. You seem to have light skin yourself?

I think many ppl put too much emphasis on things that aren't really a given. Like the thought that all men want an anorexic shortcake for a partner. That's what I've bumped in to, me being 5'9", so easy for me to believe that I'm not what most men want. Thing is, we're not looking for most men, but for this one guy that's right for us.
Maybe just try to let go of these feelings, be yourself, be proud of who you are and above all: be happy. Happy people attract other people. I think that's one of the most important 'trades' in dating (and life).
Good luck

It does no good to whine about alleged racism until you have demonstrated that you have eliminated all other possibilities.

I don't consider the population of Salt Lake City to be typical of a major metropolitan area in the USA. So, perhaps one's location is a factor in one's lack of dating.

It is typical of other major metropolitan areas...It is just smaller is all.

Unfortunately, Utah is a state you can't make much out of unless you are Mormon.

I LOVE all these replies. Thanks for every input. Yes that os my pic, for the person who had questioned it. I am from the south (tx) & yes all my friends said that I might be in the wrong state. But alot of women ( non black) dont see what I see, & dont go thru what i go thru. Its way easier to lift someones spirits when they dont know how its like to be in their shoes. Yea, I also WAS thinkn deeply bout moving back to texas. Thanks yall:smile:

Well, this is exactly what im talkn bout. The tight pants thing is crazy. As far as I know ALOT of wmen wear tight jeans, but the finger is pointed at us, in a negitive way. Everything is negitive when it comes down to black women. Latin women loves tight clothes, but men love that. I dont know, maybe I should just buy a toy & be happy & act like nothings wrong, lol

Anyone who harbors a dislike for someone based purely on your shade probably isnt worth having to begin with. I would agree with those who say that Utah, and perhaps SLC, are a bit more atypical than other states and major metro areas. In this case, dont believe for a moment that there is something wrong with you. Perhaps it is simply that there are not enough suitable guys (that you have met, anyway) that are not perceptive enough to appreciate you for who you are. =)

Msmoxi87, why did you move to Utah in the first place?
It seems to me that such a move on your part was self-defeating.

Try getting out of that area before drawing any conclusion about how black women are treated.

There is definitely something else going on.

Historically, Mormonism has a racist element which has been whitewashed during recent times.

Originally, the Book of Mormon said this about Native Americans:

"And the Gospel of Jesus Christ shall be declared among them; wherefore, they shall be restored unto the knowledge of their fathers, and also to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, which was had among their fathers.

And then shall they rejoice, for they shall know that it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God; and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and a delightsome people." 2 Nephi 30:5-6

Up until 1981, copies of the Book of Mormon contained the above-quoted statement of "white and delightsome".

Then in 1981, the Book of Mormon was republished with 2 Nephi 30:6 rewritten as "pure and delightsome".

The Mormon faith has taught that dark skin is a sign of a curse from God.

Alma 3:6 (of the Book of Mormon) says the following about Native Americans:
"And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob, and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men."

2 Nephi 5:21 says the following about Native Americans:
"And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them."

So, when a community is dominated by a religion that teaches that dark skin is a curse from God, don't be surprised if the followers of that religion don't want to date a person with dark skin.
