Got a Whatsapp yesterday that my girl had an accident whilst running. She's broken her radius (elbow end) real bad and the radius is dislocated as well. Her husband, in the military, had just left for training for a couple of days, so she had to drive to hospital and back on her own, with that arm.
She's got a splint now, needs to be operated asap, which apparently in the States means a week later :/ It's scheduled for next Thursday, she had the accident last Thursday.
If she doesn't get operated, she won't be able to use that arm anymore :( Doctor doesn't know yet whether it can be fixed with pins, a plate and a small chance he will have to remove the bone and replace it? So it must be pretty bad.
Doctor needs a CAT scan to know what to do upfront, but not sure whether health-insurance will approve a CAT-scan. Can't effing believe it! Wished she was in Holland, then she prolly would've had the operation by now and no one would've BSed about a CAT-scan.
Thank god her in-laws came over from Colorado immediately to help her out, as her husband wasn't home. So they're helping her out, cooking, cleaning, helping her get showered, dressed, getting shopping in etc.
Will take months for her to recover fully, poor thing! And I wished I could be with her tears First time she's gonna get surgery.
Her in-laws were gonna come back from Colorado to be there, I'm so happy they're that nice and caring so she's not completely without parent-like care and love!
I just wished I could be there for my baby

Thank you Missy, and yes, I'm very grateful that she has such loving in-laws that lovingly took her in their hearts as their daughter! Since she's been in the States, almost a year now, they've been there for her whenever necessary, even when things got pretty bad between her husband and herself, supporting her and telling their own son off for being in the wrong, seriously at that.
So I know they'll be there for her, which is absolutely great!

So sorry to hear this about your daughter. Wishing her a successful surgery and a good recovery. It's good that she has nice in-laws to help her as you live so far away. Not everyone is that lucky. Prayers for her and you..flowerforyou

She's very lucky indeed. When do you usually find people of the kind of character to call right, right and wrong, wrong, especially when it's concerning a blood relative. Indeed, these are truly outstanding people. Your daughter is very fortunate!

Crystal, posting very little these days as I am dealing with my own family issues...However, when I read your OP I wanted to respond because I know from experience how hard it hits us when one of our children is sick or injured....My heart goes out to you:heart: and to your daughter...I will keep her in my thoughts for a full recovery, but this post is for you...Hang in there and stay positive for her (i know you will cause you are strong)...Injuries like hers that require time and patience can slowly drain us emotionally, mentally, and physically, take care of you!! so you can be a strong force for your daughter...I wish you well!flowerforyou

Owwwwww!!
Tell her to stop running on her arms:-)

CAT scans are easy peasy..simplest part of the whole thing.
Can you SKYPE her after surgery?

Thx everyone!

@ Soufie, don't know ...
The CAT scan is wait and see if health insurance thinks it's necessary. The one prob with it is that they use this stuff, contrast I think, and she's got a kidney prob, so that possibly they can't use it.
It's not like she's on meds for her kidneys, but they don't function 100%, so she's got to be careful to not damage them further.
Hopefully we'll know more on Wednesday, including time of surgery.
