Let us all hope, for the sake of her soul, the man her family killed really did molest her.

We are all aware, she has always been a good actress.

Is it unfathomable that a child, jealous of the attention her mother gives a strange man, would lie and claim molestation?

Has happened many, many times.

Is it unfathomable to believe, she felt guilt, for the man, if, she lied, and the shock of her actions affected her?

Is it unfathomable, to believe, or think, all the work she did, poems she wrote, would be to do penance for a childish lie?

She always had sad eyes. Were they eyes of guilt?

Only her God will know.

its not unfathomable that being RAPED at eight might make one feel pretty bad, but knowing that TELLING may have cost a life would make one feel even worse

but it is between her and her God, who, as far as I know,, does not damn children for how adults choose to react to their words,,,

whatever happened to her at eight, didn't stop her from being an inspiration eighty years later or diminish the amazing woman she became,,,

as is the point in the op,, her voice will be sorely missed by millions

What if, she was never raped and a lie cost an innocent man his life?

what if,, she was?

how could any of it be changed now and what has it to do with her passing?

what if,, she was?

how could any of it be changed now and what has it to do with her passing?

It would mean, her life and accomplishments were based on a horrific injustice.

Just sayin'.

Kids can say the damndest thangs, don'tcha know?

Clearly you haven't read a lot of her work, if any. While it's true some people lie about rape and molestation, more people don't, in fact they rarely say anything about it at all. If you have read anything she wrote at all, yes, she did feel guilty about saying anything about her molestation which subsequently caused members of her family to kill the offender. She didn't speak for years afterward because she was horrified about her words had done. It has taken years for victems of sexual assault to speak out because of the stigma people insist on spreading.

Yes, I believe in a fair and just God.

I believe, if she was truly raped she will inherit eternity in heaven.

If, the child lied and the adult hid it, her fortune and fame would have been built on the murdered corpse of an innocent man.

Did they stone him? If he was in Pakistan they would have or maybe he would have married her. Is it ok to rape children in Pakistan?

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Maya Angelou
