I do believe they are real. I have seen more than one myself. If you don't believe, look at all the unexplainable things that happen...and try to explain them

Many years ago, about 30 years ago, when I was a much younger man, I was staying with my eldest brother in the town of Portage La Prairie, in the province of Manitoba, Canada.

Unemployment was very high and staying at my brother's house while it needed to be finished was better than staying with my contentious father.

I had some under-the-table work with a local contractor that was part-time employment and it meant I had some time after-hours to go and flirt with the local girls.

Remember, I'm about 21 years old and seeking-out female company was paramount at this point in my life.

There was this one young lady who's name I'll not relate as she may very-well still be a resident of Portage La Prairie.

She was stunningly beautiful but sadly she did have one very pronounced physical deformity that probably served to have her ostracized by many people. (Life Is Unfair)

The more I think about the events of this one evening, the more I realize she probably didn't want the events that occurred, if they got-out, to be tied to her affliction.

I'll call her, 'Vee' as the dialogue will be easier.

Late one Summer night, I was walking back with Vee to her house.

We were walking up a back-lane and while Vee's back was turned to a very common looking house further up the way, I was talking and joking and going-on as I do... I happened to notice in this house lights flashing and moving about.

I thought nothing of it... Saying to myself, "Some Kids with flash-lights playing before they go to sleep in their bedrooms."

Vee having not seen anything as her back was turned, and my not thinking this was anything worth mentioning, continued to walk up the lane.

Now, we're both point-blank in the back lane facing this house.

There was a very well maintained white fence that was between us and this house, and it was at this point I noticed something wrong.

In the middle of this very well maintained fence was a HUGE hole!

This wasn't any ordinary hole in a fence, it was 3 feet across and had feathered black scorch marks in all directions around it.

I exclaimed to Vee, "Who the Hell lives in a house with a fence like that?"

Vee looked at me then at the fence. "What are You talking about?" she replied.

"Well, who lives in place like this with a BIG hole blasted through their fence?" I replied.

Vee has now stepped away from both me and this fence. Looking-on with this vacant look on her face.

I've moved toward the hole to see if there was anything beyond the seemingly unending black void.

I could see nothing and as I stooped over to peer-in, a cold feeling came over me, causing me to back-away.

I turned to Vee once more and pressed her, "Come On...! Somebody owns this place and who keeps a fence like that?"

Vee calmly replied, "Nobody lives there." "Nobody has lived there for years."

"Somebody lives there, I remember seeing lights in this house as we were walking up the lane, back over there!" I replied.

"You, saw lights on in THAT house?" replies Vee.

Vee continued, "You don't understand... Nobody, lives in that house, and everybody in this neighborhood knows that place is haunted."

"Let's walk quickly," I replied as I took her hand.

When she got back to her house I said, "Good Night" and she went inside.

There was no need to go-back in the same direction I'd come, as my brother's house was way North of the town.

I started my lonely trek back to my brother's, and it's getting close to mid-night.

As my luck or fate would have it... A Police car pulls-up beside me and the Officer rolls-down the window. "Where are You going, Pal...? We haven't seen You before."

"Back to my brother's place by the Peony Farm... I'm staying with him and have some temporary work here," I replied.

"We'll give You a ride, if You want!" said the Police.

"Okay, thanks Guys!" and I climbed in the caged back portion of the Cruiser.

I wasn't finished thinking about what just happened only about 20 minutes earlier. "Hey, You Guys got anything else better to do, because I just left a very strange site in town?"

"What do You want us to look at, Pal?" As they pulled a U-turn.

"I just came back from a house with this BIG hole in its fence facing the back lane... Who keeps a place like that?"

I directed the Police very easily back to the same back-lane.

They seemingly, almost knew where to go.

"Stop Here Boys!" I exclaimed.

The head-lights of the Police car are shining straight on the portion of back-lane and fence that I was just at, no more than 30 minutes ago.

I walked up to the same fence... And the hole was gone!

It felt like all the blood had rushed out of my face and limbs.

And NOW... And NOW... I've got two Cops to try to explain this to. sick

I turned back to the Police Cruiser with its bright lights shining on both me and this fence that was as straight as a Dime and didn't have a board out-of-place.

"Who the Hell fixes a fence in the middle of the night?" I exclaimed at the top of my lungs!

Now bolder, I walk up to the fence and touched the boards expecting wet paint. They were dry. scared

The Police move forward and said, "Come on back." (Very Calmly)

"Listen You Guys, there was a hole in that fence half a hour ago!" I said nervously.

The Police looked at each other, then back at me. "Just get back in the car, Pal."

"Damn It...! I bet You Guys think I'm on drugs or something, right?"

************* Several Minutes Of Driving Later ***********

The Police break their silence, "Listen Pal, we're taking You back to your brother's place and we want to forget about this night."

"Do You Guys think I'm a Wack-job or what?" I replied.

"No, no, no... We think You're okay, JUST DON'T GO BY THAT HOUSE AGAIN !!!!!" Replied the Police.

I thanked them for the ride as I was standing at the top of my brother's drive-way, and asked, "You Guys know something about that house, that I don't?"

"We're not allowed to discuss it, Pal... Now, get some sleep." And the Police sped-off.

I never was able to get in contact with Vee again, and to this day I wonder if she actually saw the hole in the fence at the same time I did.

To this day I wonder what that vacant look on her face meant.

This is a true story from my past, and just like my account of the Ouija Board from my childhood it is no cause for bragging.

I wouldn't deny this if I were on my death-bed.

Dear Kaustuv1,

I'm sorry this was so long-winded, but I had to relate something from my past with great detail.

Like I say it's not fiction, it's something that really happened to me when I was a young man, and it's memory still irks me.

There's an old saying, 'Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction' and I hope I've done more than just entertain You.

Kaustuv here, expressing his 'regards' to you Sheik. I believed each and every word of 'that' true incident and was genuinely engrossed in having read the same, in consummate entirety. You 'did' more than having 'merely entertained' me.

Keep Smiling.

Salaam!

I see 'a human-being' & 'a Ghost' while staring at myself, in front of a mirror, every morning. Perhaps, 'human' & 'ghost' co-exist, in every human being.flowerforyou
