I've grown up with animals since I was very young.

The first dog I had was named "Nana" and I named her after my favorite movies 'Snow Dogs' and 'Peter Pan'. She was a German Short Haired Pointer.

We currently have an English Springer Spaniel named "Dexter" and we named him after the tv series 'Dexter'.

My grandfather used to have a Miniature Poodle and we named her "Peaches" because of her Apricot color. Unfortunately, we had to put her down a while back because she had gotten ill and we didn't want her to be in pain. She is now with my German Short Haired Pointer "Nana". My grandfather and I recently adopt a pure black kitten, her name is "Dasher" because she Dashes all over the place, and she'll be a year old on November 18th :)

Hope this helps.

I have a Corhuahua (half Corgi and half Chihuahua) named Finn. His full name is Finnian Draco. When he was born he was all white. Finnian means white/fair in Irish and Draco of course is Latin for Dragon. His name is kind of ironic because he is a little guy (but don't tell him that because he thinks that he's a Husky).

My first dog was named Princess. The next 2 dogs were named 'P' names. The first animal not named starting with a P got out and we never found her, the next one not named starting with a P got hit by a car. The names have started with P ever since.

I have 2 Yorkies I had this problem when I got them so I goggled yorkie names didn't like them so I thought of my fav shows that's when it came to me my fav show at the min was Dexter so that's what I called him. My ***** Lola I bought when she was one when I went to collect her I realised the people were gypsey sand I think he must of stole her there were 5 other types of dogs there when I asked her name he thought for a few secs then said Scooby I was like are you serious. So I took her because I couldn't bare to leave her there and I just always liked the name Lola so that's what I named her.

I've always thought the smaller the pet the bigger the name should be. History & mythology are good sources for names. All my cats were named for Egyptian gods & pharaohs. I started w/Cleopatra & Rameses & now have Sekhmet & Osiris. Just remember that too many syllables in a name can be hard for the pet to learn. Enjoy your companion.

Sadly, Cleopatra & Rameses rule in pet heaven. They lived to 17 & 11 respectively. Happily though, Sekhmet & Osiris are still being worshipped on my couch daily.

I am managing a long term construction project in a pretty remote part of So. China. A lot of creepy things find there way into my apartment. So I had the company get me a cat. They got me one about 4 months old
I had a friend (Zak) growing up. Always in trouble.. always in the middle of a fight. I didn't know what to name the cat until he took on and killed a spider (in my bedroom) almost as big as him.. instant "Zak".. he patrols the apartment like a commando. love this little guy, been here a year now and he has kept me safe from the " creatures" he's coming home with me when this project is over. He's earned it

I have a puggle that I found wondering the streets, her name is Gypsy and her name fits her perfectly. She steals everything that is laying around and eats everything she can find
