Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas responded quickly with this statement:

"He was treated the way any other patient would have been treated, regardless of nationality or ability to pay for care. We have a long history of treating a multi-cultural community in this area."

By Tuesday afternoon, Jackson had met with hospital officials and was leading a prayer vigil with hospital employees and Duncan's nephew, Josephus Weeks.

"I appreciate you," Weeks said to hospital staffers. "No amount of thanks in the world I can give you. [I am] forever in my debt for treating a man who had no means. He had no ways. But you treated him like a diamond. I appreciate all the efforts you're putting in. Thank you on behalf of my family."

Jesse Jackson questions level of care for Ebola patient

DALLAS — National civil rights leader Jesse Jackson visited Dallas Tuesday to see first-hand how Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan is being cared for at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

Rev. Jackson said he came at the request of Duncan's family, who told him they were not getting enough information from the doctors, and that Duncan was not getting the best care America had to offer.

In the morning, Jackson compared Duncan's care to what American-born Ebola patients have received at other U.S. hospitals.

"It seems the way we treated the Americans in Georgia and Nebraska is different than the way we treated a victim here in Dallas," Jackson said.At a news conference following the vigil, Jackson was asked if he thought there was an issue of racism at play.

"I don't want to say that, only because that could become the headline," he said. "Whether you are white in Atlanta or whether you are white in Nebraska or black in Dallas — we know there's different treatment among blacks in this country."

But his tone had changed since the morning. Before he left the city, Jackson spoke highly of Duncan's care.

"I think they've done a marvelous recovery, and we want to embrace the hospital staff and work with them on his recovery," he said.

However, Jackson added that he remains concerned that Duncan was sent home from the hospital the first time he sought help there.

well, ya know,, there are three men of a certain shade whose every word is dissected,,,,lol

it wasn't even just the fianc, I have listened to newscasters for weeks discussing the questionable treatment and ESPECIALLY the 'error' in sending him home ( and error is the word THEY used

I also have family in the medical field who is questioning it,,, and the response to ebola at large

as far as disparate treatment in general,, that's well recorded

I will wait for more of the ebola story to unfold,, even though duncans story is now over,,,,

it ISNT so,,,,

seems reporters wanted to introduce that into the discussion
ASKED if he thought there was an issue of racism at play.

"I DON'T WANT TO say that, only BECAUSE THAT COULD BECOME THE HEADLINE" he said. "Whether you are white in Atlanta or whether you are white in Nebraska or black in Dallas — we know there's different treatment among blacks in this country

If Duncan were in my town, where Whooping Cough just once again for (like the 3rd year in a row) strangely broke out, he would have for sure died sooner. Everyone says, "Don't go to the Ladysmith Hospital, you will die!"sick

Incompetence is reaching new highs in healthcare.

living in las vegas

where a doctor actually told me my breathing problem wsnt my heart but FOLLOWED by contributing that he had only had one week of training on the heart (no , he didn't say it jokingly)

and where another doctor waited before inserting a needle into my back to make a comment about how large the needle was,,,,,(spiking my bp and putting me in danger)

,,,,I cant disagree,,,,

however, I have to believe it depends quite a bit on the area of the country and the are oaf the town,,,,,

Funny..... Obozocare treatment restrictions weren't mentioned once.... or blamed

However.... this liberian nationals care while in the hospital was over $500.000 and the cleanup of the home was over $200,000

I still haven't gotten my thank you note for my tax dollars......

Funny that Jackson want's to complain about the level of treatment AFTER the fact, but didn't use his influence while the guy was alive to seek whatever actions he feels were sub-standard in the guys treatment

Saving his favors for something more profitable I guess

He is such a media seeking azzhole....Anything to make a buckwhoa ...If he was so concerned, he should have been outside Duncan's room praying for him...BUT I'm thinking he was probably too scared of catching a germ...

No "white" person or group to blame an act of nature on, therefore no profit for Jesse, so instead of blaming Obozocare's limited access to needed treatment, let's blame the hospitals, doctors and culture for any failures...... instead of where the blame should fall.... POLITICAL POLICY!

I am sure that Jay Z or his wife.. or any other well off black person in this country gets top notch health treatment because they can pay for it.

So the idea that all blacks get different treatment than whites is absurd.
