As she sat and watched the world go by sadness showed in her face
For she thought to herself which word goes first they just vanish without a trace.
But I may seem to you I don't understand but I still take it all in
And yes the journey that comes will be at times so grim.

The mind so powerful yet now so weak
Things once beautiful now so bleak
As I can't remember much
But I may not be able to say my words but I still can give that loving touch.

I'm still me don't forget as she thought to herself in her clouded mind all confused and loud
Yes times can be difficult, times can be vague like I'm covered by a cloud.
But this illness won't stop me fighting each day at least I have got that
As I held her hand I knew she what she was thinking as she just sat.

Music she loved songs that brought memories back
Everything from old to new songs all tracks.
Familiar things helped many ways
In each and every day.

Her hand held mine tight as I smiled and she looked
Her eyes blue as the sea and her beauty shinning but her words was just like they had been took.
Don't think I'm not knowing or understand she thought and just starred up to the sky
May be a cure will come along Alzheimer's, so u better listen good and instead of hello it's goodbye.

Wow! Both powerful and so beautifully written, and with heart, Angel. This was a beauty. Thank you so much.

As a youth, around 9 or 10 years old, I had as my best friend a boy who had a very important ancestor. This was back in Miami Florida. This ancestor was George Armstrong Custer. As we grew together I began meeting his relatives, and, living in his house back then was his great grandmother - also a Custer. Turns out she was ' Big George's ' last living, great great great granddaughter. Interestingly enough, as she was very, very old at that time, I visited her death bed back there in Miami. I called her, 'Grandma Custer. ' I recall vividly, Angel, she lay on her death bed curled up in a fetal. She was 97 years old as I recall. Very, very, very fragile. I walked into her room as she lay there and sat down next to her. I said, " Grandma Custer, I'm here, I will protect you. " I recall her looking up with just a brief short glance as I put my hand onto hers. She said in her faint manner, " Tommy boy, I love you. " And, " Thank - you - tommy. "

You see, Angel, this is the sort of thing you elicit in your works. Emotion, passion, sadness and one supposes glee. I like the heck out of ye, Angel.

Be well, and keep this flow going on, pal.

Good write...love reading it!
Makes me think of my mother, though she is ok but so far far away!
Wish I could just pop in and see her, but it is 4 hours drive away.

Seeing your poem and also seeing a post my sis put on FB inspired me to write my very first poem...it is in Walkers 'I wonder'....he sort of 'made' me do it...though I am glad I did. Didn't know I had that side of me that could write a good piece.

I do go see my mum whenever possible...but not as often as I would have loved to.

I am having a fabulous time here reading all the wonderful posts.
