I am not very computer savvy but know enough to not share my phone number or address. I'm puzzled about all the begging for email addresses...what could they possibly gain from an email address? Every time I get involved in a conversation, within minutes the gent is asking for my email address, pleading that they don't want to communicate through this site. Could someone, anyone, please enlighten me.

Scammers. If they were legit, they would be able to communicate with you here. Just ignore them. Best to not even respond. Good luck...happy

Thanks. But -it's the "scamming" that I'm curious about. What could they possibly gain from an email address? Is this about sending emails with viruses, hacking, identity theft, internet tracking?

You can gain absolutely any information you want about anybody, from the internet. Just ask the IRS...

Life must really suck if that is what you do in your spare time - create havoc for others. People can be so simple.

Imagine hacking into ten million accounts and taking just one cent from every one of them. Sums up to a nice pile of money, doesn't it? And it is just one cent...
Hacking may create havocs out of people's lives, but that's probably not the primary motive behind it.
So, please, stay safe and enjoy meeting Minglers. There are some nice people here. Perhaps you will meet someone special. You never know, right? smile2

They either use it to Spam you themselves,or sell it to professional Spammers!
They would also be used in Bot-Networks once they have hacked your Computer,so,be careful!

It depends. I'm pretty new to internet dating too and have joined a couple of sites 'Free' only to find out that to even reply to or sometimes even read a message I have to hand over a few hundred quid. Which makes me look like a bad guy if I don't reply so if I have any way to move the conversation to email then I do.

On here it's fine and even if you can't unlock all the features without paying at least you can communicate and not look ignorant by not replying, so as to why people ask for an email......... I dunno? Maybe they check thier email more than the site? Maybe they are scammers, but how the hell you manage to take a penny from every email address you get I really don't know. Surely if they were clever enough to do that they'd be able to hack a site like this and steal the required addresses?

So I spose it's whatever makes you comfortable but like the others say, stay safe.
