the entire police structure needs to be revisited nationwide. But the Government needs to be held accountable as well. After 9-11 they gave the police more power.

They also gave the police surplus military equipment to "fight" terrorism. But I do not believe the police are( or should be) trained and outfitted for this roll as it is a military and Government agency responsibility.

They ( Police) now think they are paramilitary... It is scary.

For instance, my local Police department ( town population of 60,000.. normal crime rate) received from the Government 2 grenade launchers post 9-11.

Now why the hell does my local police need grenade launchers????.

What's next... A Police Department tank rolling down Main St???

careful what you're asking for!

Those scared Politicos need to call back their Dogs!

no ...I do not believe they should come in with all the gear that we use in wars or for terrorists ... most of this equipment came from Iraq it was distributed all across the USA so it did not just sit ... they did not do it to give a stronger impersonation they did it becouse it was extra equipment not being used ... I heard all of that a while back ... but any one can believe what they want ... thats just what i had heard ... all of that came out of the war from over there ...

this is where the Dog is buried!

http://www.salon.com/2014/09/12/cops_deadly_identity_problem_how_police_officers_military_uniforms_affect_their_mental_state/

We entrust police offices with enormous power. Accordingly, we expect them to show more restraint, patience and care than other citizens. The images coming out of Ferguson depict failure on each front.

Part of the problem may be the way the police are dressed. As the saying goes, the clothes make the man. In Ferguson, the men who work as police dress like soldiers. Dressing police in camouflage is certainly ridiculous (John Oliver recently quipped,If they want to blend in with their surroundings, they should be dressed like a dollar store), but recent psychological research now indicates that the effect of militarized dress may be much more insidious..............

We have a "Tactical Narcotics Team" (TNT) here in my county. A joint operation of Police departments. Certainly needed. I am 100% for it.

But

They dress up in all black "Ninja" type jumpsuits, complete with face coverings. All kinds of gear strapped to them. Then they break the doors down and " bull rush" whomever is inside.. guns drawn.

Mistakes have been made.. wrong house.. innocent people getting hurt, excessive damage, kids getting hurt.. ect

We all know who the cops are.. its the cop down the street or around the block.. no secret there.

Why in the world do they have to dress like Ninja's? and who are they hiding their faces from?. These are street level drug dealers they are going after.

I can not help but believe that they actually enjoy dressing up like that... and we're paying for the costume

death is not justice

Uh, you might want to rephrase that.

death is not justice,, to me,,,no rephrasing

for the law, death is only justice (capital offense) when a life or lives have been TAKEN....

I can and do understand it for those type raids. But many of the raids conducted were day time raids into well lite homes

They actually stuck out like a sore thumb as opposed to blending in or being less visible ( from the photos I saw in the local newspapers) or on T.V

I just think it unnecessary and frankly.. egotistic
