I have utterly no idea what I'm doing. Haha. All of my training has been basically centered around resistance training. But here's how I started to focus myself...

A gym is just a playground.

There are a bunch of big toys to play on but if you don't know what the hell you're doing, you'll probably get injured. You know, like on a playground.

Since I only have a pair of steel-toed boots right now (yeah, haven't been hitting the treadmill [the noise really pisses people off and I found out boots aren't actually allowed]) I've mostly just been... figuring out what all these machines do. It's mad! They do damn near everything! I'm not even joking right now - I had no idea that this much fitness equipment existed.

So, maybe this is a general gym forum, I guess. Do you hit the gym, and if so, how frequently? Any particular workout routines?

Always love to hear about the lives of others.

Also, I'm totally working on getting some shoes I should be running in.

Just going back to the gym starting hopefully tomorrow..... I had to quit for a few months because of Dr orders..... Keeping it lite just range of motion.... Normally 4days a week..... That's how I get my Zen .....at my age a must....

My membership is paid through my job. It's one of those benefits which I took advantage of... lol, to my health & picking up phone#s along the way. ;)

Anyways, I'd narrowed it down to what I wanna work on with my body day by day. One day I'll do upper body & the next day it'll be my lower body. As a beginner, try to start & get used to all the machines there. But start lite before going to extremes. Do research... for my case, youtube was a great tool of knowing what to expect in the gym. I don't hardly go to the gym anymore due to I found new hobbies which requires the same workout if I was in the gym.

Definitely I hope you get some shoes. :)

They let you train with steel toe boots? My gym wouldn't allow that anyway its no biggi. I can imagine the sound of steel toes on a tread mill lol.

i train about 4 times a week for 2 hours per session of intense training.
if you're not sure of the machines/excercises ask any trainer thats what they're there for.

if it's your first time to join/try, it's always a good idea to have a trainer give advice. novices tend to overwork the body due to eagerness or wrong mechanics, or underwork it due to apprehension and lack of follow-through.

im not a big fan of the equipments myself, aside from the cardio machines. they feel kinda cumbersome to use since they mostly focus on just one group of muscle. you might want to try plyometrics or other options, but always with the help of a good trainer, at least until you're more comfortable with your own regimen.

My advice would be forget the machines. Learn to bench, squat, and deadlift with proper form (free weights). Throw in overhead press and bent over rows and you got a really good starter routine.

I am totally down right now, the reason I am posting so much...I got hit on my bicycle Friday night coming home from Planet Fitness by a car out of control on the sidewalk WTF Do not have the avatars where I normally post, like to see who I am talking to sorry, I am bored and out of line on your place! OT: I go every night I am home (and well) in Alaska or Florida, and ride the bike-bicycle six or seven mile round trip both places to get there and back and do a two or three hour total workout and stretch or hatha or vanesa flow yoga. ok that is my routine sorry

Will chat in the forums, community, or what ever it is called on this site, but have no pennies or time for the games, to much wild game, fish gators and such to chase to waist that much time on here...gone frog gigging, the air boat is warmed up and ready:thumbsup:

I SHOULD go to a gym... but it's not one of those things I'm prepared to subscribe to (as in, with money). I do some exercises at home, and that seems to be doing well enough to work off all the salt, fat, and sugar I eat. I think it's more important to do SOMETHING, either at home or at a gym, than nothing at all. And at-home is cheaper.
