 'PT's Rant Room' is one of my favorite places to hide, to learn, to just be, in all the Mingle World. Her ability to evoke whatever it is she chooses makes me shiver. If you haven't visited there, yet - or recently - you are missing something wonderful.

No competition, just a response to inspiration...

'PTRR'
Talented Spring:
Source and Season combine,
yielding magic.

'Dream Warriors'
(Idea borrowed from the Dokken song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utXmwQ3fcos

'Ain't gonna dream no more...'
But I know that isn't true
How can we not?
Death is what, but the cessation of dreams?
I breathe yet - and dream.

'When I close my eyes, I realize,
you'll come my way...'
I'll be here, too. Fearful? Expectant?
Both. And grateful.
'It's that same desire, to feel the fire...'

'Break the spell of illusion...'
I laugh. This male still breathes.
Illusion is just magic and magic is you.
We battle. Win and lose, interchangeable.
That spell feels eternal.

'But maybe tonight. Maybe tonight you'll be gone...'

Because she's unforgettable and worth it.

'LRN'

She's a lightning rod that captures reactions.
Her postings result in delicious distraction.
While some of those get
Mixed emotions just yet
No denying she's a woman of passion.

Her most famous photo could be captioned
'Goddess in a Little Red Napkin.'
She won't blush in good Grace
No doubt, a smile's on her face
As she basks in the glow of attention.

In her 'House' is a photo as she dances for you
Of her rockin' some high-heeled black shoes
It's prob'ly my favorite,
Smiling now as I savor it,
As she prances amid grateful men's dues.

She is always just poking, never fails to pretend
She seeks only a means to her ends
And while she's got her detractors
And fanatical backers
I'm happy to call her my friend.

'Thirteen Dollars 'til Payday'

Sonofagun. I've got 13 bucks in my pocket, but payday's tomorrow.
Ok, yeah. Got me some more but that's security traded for sorrow.

There's a bunch of cool stuff that I'm grateful to have now:
Got a good dog, my health, a boss that thinks I walk on water and God doesn't seem to have a problem with the blasphemy (today, anyhow).

I wouldn't mind learning what 'Iambic Pentameter' is and how I might use it. Tilly's got me to thinking I might have a voice but I'll need lots, lots more practice to prove it.

Ghost in the Machine

Wandering past posts I've discovered:
Lives in the making
Some hearts that were breaking
An occasional groan or a smile

I've thought 'Put your best foot forward.'
I've seen posts that start 'Woe is me...'
And then come the best ones, those that inspire
'Just open your eyes and you'll see.'

Spirits live here, mingling in earnest
Haunting, provocative and free
Deus ex Machina, ethereal souls
Publish pain and confusion...and glee

With just a little more time
with a mind open to nuance
and a restless - frenetic - bold search
we find people and not simply mimes

Am I surprised? Yeah.

Is this another riddle? Which lady?

No, not a riddle, Ms. Crimson Fantasy. This thread is just J. foolin' around, little stream of consciousness things as they occur or occur to me.

I blow off steam here. flowerforyou

Just Scribbles

If you knew the words you inspire in me!
Words like care and dreams and hope
or some others; more powerful or picturesque and evocative.
Words that stir memories
or passions
or visions of things still unvisited - perhaps rightly so.
Or...well, just 'or' might serve me well just now.
Just saying

Some words have cruel strength; the power to damage and hurt,
while others can heal and promise and steal away
the ravage from some of no worth,
of no morals,
of...well, some words are best left unsaid.
To have an ability to use them and still feel bereft
is the saddest surprise.
Just saying

Consider a moment, and it comes from a place
that you've captured, some more words I'll share.
Words like courage and beauty and 'fabulous hair.'
Were you smilin' just now? I saw, maybe, a flicker;
I wish I had known how to use these, be slicker.
I would gladly have jumped in the way of the dagger
and spared you the heartache
caused by thoughtless male swagger.

For all that it's worth, if I could change today
I'd do it. You would never have experienced that.
I can't and it's a bitter thing to swallow.
Impotence and helplessness and my horrid amazement
at some folks' inability to just think before they speak.
The words we toss freely, lame attempts at some joke,
barbed lances make hearts bleed,
sordid, uncalled for, satisfying some sick need to appear.
Just that.

Some creature's attempt to be other than nothing.
Not worth your attention but we both know he got it.
Almost done now, just a few scattered words
remain to be written about you,
Please, don't be embarassed, they're true.
You are not what he said; not to me, not to those
that have seen you shine, watched you fight.
I can't stop stupidity; crass, ill-conceived spite.
But I'll stand with you, Sugar. With all of my might.

You're better, you're bigger, you're badder than that.
You've fought and continue to win, far tougher battles than
the one this piddly non-entity provoked.
I'm going to steal a line
from a song and change it, just a bit:

These surely ARE the best colors that you shine.

It's been years since I heard this song. I don't know for sure if these lyrics are precisely correct.

Rush 'Trees'

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
for the Maples want more sunlight
and the Oaks ignore their pleas

Well, the Oaks can't help their feelings
if they like the way they're made
and they wonder why the Maples
can't be happy in their shade

Got this into my head and it wouldn't stop percolating 'til I got it out here. Don't know how come. *shrugs*

Wonder if anyone else ever has dreams so vividly detailed that you wake certain, beyond doubt of any sort, that you lived the experience just now. You look around yourself to catch a glimpse of the participants, strain to capture the sounds and impressions, even as they fade with consciousness.

There's such a monumental surprise when you discover that nothing of the sort happened. And that takes NOTHING away from the experience. That particular 'reality' wasn't real, despite the bone-deep certainty it leaves behind. It's like seeing a friendly ghost, a hallucination spurred into creation by simply being open and receptive.

The nearest experience I could use to flesh out this wondrous occurence is one some folks call 'Deja Vu.' I've had those, too. The comparison seems appropriate.

Dreams so rich in content and wonder and emotion that they seem more the reenactment of forgotten memories than the seemingly random firing of synapses in the subconscious as it tries to make sense of your day.

Senses responding across the entire spectrum of input - touch, taste, all of them and even the 'dream' senses that can't possibly exist, although your imagination refuses to accept that impossibility.

I woke from one of those at zero-dark-thirty this morning with an ear to ear smile and laughter bubbling out of me.

I really hope that happens again.
