I'm new to this, if a person sends a message and I'm not interested, how do I delete them? Or do I have to block them.

Unless they're rude or something you can just ignore and delete the mail. If they continue to message you block em!

"Thanks for messaging me but at this time I have joined a satanic cult and simply have no time for a man. Plus, I don't think you would wanna be a sacrifice so think of this as me saving your life".

In all the years I have been on the internet I have only blocked
4 people..Usually a thanks but no thanks works..
IF not I just dont' bother to open them.. They will slide off after a while...

[/quote .

At the bottom of their email, it has the options to reply, report or block.
If you do not block.. then you will end up with a long list of people to remember. * Chances are they try again * We do have unlimited blocks on this site. bigsmile

High time, Mingle invented a way to 'ignore/block' one's very own self!

Easy? Send them one back telling them to bolt and that you're not interested! Straight to the point usually works?

A polite " I've read your profile and don't think we would 'click'" usually works for me.

I will however point out that I am one of those people who thinks that NOT answering messages is incredibly rude and disrespectful.

I equate messages on Mingle to leaving someone a voicemail message. If I called you and said "Hi it's Mike and I'd like to meet you for coffee, interested?" I would think the vast majority of you would feel compelled to call back and provide a yes or no answer.

Some could easily call up and say "Sorry, not into it, have a nice life." and would be done. Others would be very hesitant to reject someone knowing they have to talk to them, and they fear some big conflict will be generated. I get you don't like personally rejecting someone. It's not something we enjoy usually.

Here however, it's simply text. If the other party can't accept your decision like an adult, then you have the block option, and I suggest you use it if they exhibit stalker or anger issue tendencies.

Common courtesy for me however is if I ask a question, I think it's simply the polite thing to answer.

Am I too old-fashioned?

Yep...fraid so...it is common forum knowledge these days that no reply is an answer.....if you were getting up to or over 100 messages a day.....would you reply to them all???

If I was getting 100 messages a day from women wanting to meet me, I'd likely be off the site and dating someone before the end of the day! I think THAT volume of messaging is a little unrealistic though.

Since so many people claim to use the site as their soulmate gold mine, I would say that yes, you would need to answer those 100 people if for no other reason than to acknowledge if they are in the running or not.

Why let 'Skippy' pine out there for you, thinking that he has a shot, simply because you cannot find 20 seconds in your day to send him a polite 'Sorry, but no thank you.'message.

Sorry, maybe it's how I was raised, but the expectation of using text, or flirting, or making someone a friend or a favourite, is that a communication should be acknowledged if for no other reason than to confirm it was seen, and understood. You won't always get the positive response you might be hoping for, and that's fine.

I just think you should take the time to answer people who thought enough of you to make the effort.

I'll get off my soapbox now. (lol)
