NO, I don't give out any personal info at all especially after just a few lines of text. I would like to see if we have something in common first. Not only that but it takes a couple weeks of chatting to start to get a feel of what the person is really like. If I feel there is a connection after those couple weeks then yes I have no problem chatting with them on the phone or via email and set up a date. If they are sincere and serious they will give you that time and I also will give that time.

A couple of weeks?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, she's already talked to, met and hooked up with three guys that weren't afraid to talk to her.

Yes I would give out my cell. What's the worst that could happen. I can always block certain numbers if need to. Almost impossible to look up where that person lives by their cell number. And the worst case scenario is I end up calling AT&T to get it changed.

I use a program called Sideline. It gives me a ghost #. Do I don't have to give out my real # until I am comfortable giving my real #

I text more than I talk. But like every one else in the world I do my research before texting a number.

1. I prefer to use the sites I'm on for a bit.
2. Googling the number is free and easy. And have learned that voip numbers are mostly scanners. Lol.

I use a ghost # program until I am comfortable giving someone my real #. I am not a scammer. Just cautious

There are plenty of phone 'apps' where you can speak to to people without giving them your number..

....even then It takes quite a few messages before I even do that.. but it does get tiresome typing all the time once you feel comfortable with a person.

Often the ones who give out the number, even on first message, are scammers and you can trace the number to one of the free 'virtual' numbers, most often associated with scammers.

Ooooh What are these phone apps where you don't give out your number? How does that work?

I think as soon as you are comfortable that the person is for real then it's ok to take the plunge and chat. It's quite a deciding factor for me the sound of a guy's voice and how his SOH and personality come across.

No point in getting more and more involved exchanging mail to find out when you actually talk to eachother you are not feeling it at all ohwell

If someone wants to get to know you well enough then send messages on here, especially if you have a smartphone, you can just use the app. I think it would be ridiculous to give someone my number on the first message. I think most reasonable people wouldn't even think to ask for it right away.

I agree - but most guys ask straight away. I always say no and try to get to know them better and if they get fed up of sending messages on here they can't have been very interested in the first place is how I look at it. It's better on the phone app cos you get notifications but a pain on my laptop. But to be fair the app can crash a fair bit so I can understand guys wanted to drag you into the world of Whatsaphappy

BTW love your cat. Exactly like my Tilly love

Ha ha, my cat gets a lot of attention here! He's my buddy, that's a typical scene, him on my lap or laying on my shoulder! It just seems silly to ask for a number straightaway, I completely agree with you!

I sent a message yesterday to a nice guy I've become friends with in here telling him he should put a photo on of him with one of his cats cos the women love to see that - great strategy for attracting the ladies bigsmile

Ooops hope noone thinks that's why I have a puppy on my lap in my photo laugh laugh laugh

er back to topic - prefer the laptop anyway cos at my age it strains my eyes peering at a phone. If you give your number out willy-nilly you get sick of the darn bleeping and I'm not too great on a touch pad either tongue2

I understand the rampant paranoia of today's female, so I put the ball in her court. I give her my number, if she's too damn afraid to use it, I send her a coupon for a free tinfoil hat. shades
