The U.S incarcerates more inmates than the entire world COMBINED and they still shamelessly call it "the land of the free" like a slap in the face to all those innocent people who spent years locked up for crimes they did not commit.
I bet that at least 30% of inmates don't need to be incarcerated. Many of them are actually innocent, have been entrapped, set up or simply cannot pay for a lawyer to gives a ****.
And let's not even talk about all those dead people that the U.S has wrongfully killed with capital punishment, a barbaric and vengeful tool for the blood-thirsty, self-righteous death-worshipping American society.

We haven't even touched on Juvenile Incarceration. A country that locks up it's children has no ground to criticize other countries over Human Rights abuses!!

it is also one of the safest places to live in the world. That's why our State Dept. has a HUGE website for travelers. Most Americans have no clue about the kind of trouble they could face abroad.

The prison system is not perfect but I'd rather the occupants be there than in my front yard....because most of them have done something to earn their spot.

I doubt we are the only country in the world who has mistakenly imprisoned someone. I agree we have too many in our prisons. Many of them should be deported (and probably will be when they get out). I know lots of people who have never been in a prison or arrested. They simply obey the law...sometimes imperfectly but basically they are law abiding. pretty simple.

Safest place to live in the world? What effed up poll did you see that in, a Fox poll or a CNN poll? (both are ****, lol)
You're not even safe at a Bible study, theaters or even a school!!
"Ok, kids, today we're gonna learn about muzzle velocity. First rule: run!!!
And the ones who are supposed to keep you safe would sooner bash your head against their squad car than do their job properly.
laugh safest... gimme a break. Don't you know how ridiculous you Americans are when you come up with crap like that?

I guess that means you wont be coming here for a holiday soon. ohwell

As an American, Texan, correctional officer during his last 2 days of employment, I can say this nation is getting less and less safer. This is due to national regulations being set in place for prison systems by the ACA as well as GWB's "PREA" of 2003 the prison rape elimination act. This is part of the reason why I chose to resign from the prison. Inmates (oh, sorry they're "offenders" now) are being allowed to do whatever they want. We no longer have the control we had over the offender population four years ago. There's really nothing to lose for criminals anymore. Now, if you get busted, you get to enjoy a luxurious stay at one of Texas's finest TDCJ ID Prison Inn and Suites, with full medical coverage and the right to do what you want. Meanwhile, the correctional officers are having tools stripped away from us that were effective, and we are no longer even allowed to "cuss" or use fowl language against an offender...that's not what I signed up for four years ago. Prison is a joke now. The criminal justice system in America is a joke now.

No, you don't have to blame it all on Obama. Blame it all on the Socialist Agenda which is socialism. It's ridiculous what an inmate has the right to do these days and say to staff. It wasn't always that way. We used to handle business in an effective manner. Now, when they get out, they have nothing to fear in coming back. So, why not commit more crimes?

We don't have to do ANYTHING to maintain a high offender population at all..there are no private prisons threatening federal and state prison agencies...that's all utter BS. The fact is, with the recession recently, crime is on the rise. We are actually, here in Texas, having to build new units to house all of these pieces of doo-doo. It's not just due to the recession, it's due to lack of parenting and lack of the US as a country to clean out these "hoods" where the offenders come from. Simple stuff. We're too busy helping out other countries to the point where we've forgotten about our own states.

Sorry, I don't want to get beat up by a cop, shot up by a racist, arrested for jaywalking or sued on my vacation. laugh
I stay in Europe for my vacations, I don't spend my money in countries where Human Rights are only given lip-service.
Italy is beautiful, France is charming, Belgium is nice, Netherlands is safe and clean, Germany is fun, England is wacky-cool, Spain is majestuous, Portugal the most welcoming, Greece is lovely, Austria is amazing, Luxembourgh is too cute, Romainia is enchanting... Europe has warm and cold climate, the beach or the slopes. No need to get ripped-off exchanging my money. No interminable VISA proceedures, no bully customs officers or pushy airport personnel... Why the hell would I want to spend my time anywhere outside of Europe?

Without our current commander and chief, I'd warmly welcome you to the USA. However, being in the great state, the Lone Star State, the State that preserves gun rights and everything constitutional, my State of Texas would welcome you with open arms and southern hospitality. I've been all over the state and can say, outside of Austin where the leftys are, it's a proud place to live in, let alone vacation to. Without us, the US is nothing and those greenies can suck it.

The number of Muslims in Brussels—where roughly half of the number of Muslims in Belgium currently live—has reached 300,000, which means that the self-styled "Capital of Europe" is now one of the most Islamic cities in Europe.

In 2013, Muslims made up approximately 26% of the population of metropolitan Brussels, followed by Rotterdam (25%), Amsterdam (24%), Antwerp (17%), The Hague (14%) and Utrecht (13%), according to a panoply of research.
In February, Members of the Belgian Parliament introduced a bill that would limit the power of Muslim extremists who win elected office at the local or national levels and isolate themselves from the political mainstream.

The move came after members of the newly established Islam Party vowed to implement Islamic Sharia law in Belgium.

I don't have to tell many people here to stay away from the U.S, only the young and impressionable. Most Europeans know very well that they are not welcome, especially the Europeans with Arab faces. (Arabs born in Europe, for those in Yorba Linda laugh ) and those who don't know find out quickly enough after having having seen what hoopla they have to do to get a visa, or once they are approached by customs agents.
