Topic: Allowing Your Sorrows

used to keep a diary when I was a girl
a journal as an adult
sometimes though we go ramming full speed ahead as grown ups
and forget to take the time to stop and acknowledge what is going on
we cover it up with keeping busy
or ignore it..

I am guilty of being a mom machine and I have to be in order to do this
but there are times when I go for a walk or sit down and deep breathe , do yoga and just let whatever emotions come that need to ..fears, doubts, sadness,..more of a cleansing and getting back in balance again

Everyone will have their own sorrows. Some people can handle them better than others but one should never not acknowledge them. People need to work them out on their own terms and conditions. Of course we remind ourselves that there are people in worse situations but since they are our sorrows, they are personal and at that very moment, extremely painful and raw. Feelings are something that are difficult to control and are better dealt with than ignored.

I can only allow myself to think about something upsetting until it starts to eat away at me. Then it becomes a true burden. I try not to think too much about upsetting situations.

Self pity - I don't have time for it

Sorry - I am there supporting them and doing what I can.

I am like your dad there is always someone worse off than me

So how can you tell me you're lonely
And say for you that the sun don't shine
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London
Show you something to make you change your mind

Some people feel the ill's of this world more than I'll ever know

I've never felt sorry for myself since I went to Brazil years ago and saw a shanty town.

Even in my own Country, the so called 'Great Britain' pensioners living on the breadline, who am I to complain.

I believe if we didn't feel sorrow or pain, we would miss valuable lessons

its how we learn, and even if we 'complain',,,in my opinion,, thats ok too

just as long as it isnt the bulk of our daily attitude or conversation(complaints)

people need to be able to vent and let out what they feel, whether its complaining about sorrows or crying about them

release is good,, as long as we move on from it

I have had some pretty traumatic things happen to me.
When things happen, that I am not sure how to handle..
I stop and thank God for all the blessing I have been given and have earned.

Then I cry... do a pity party for a small bit then I figure out how to make things better...

I know for every adverse situation in my life I will learn something from it. I just have to take time to learn what I need to.

Maybe kind of corny butt this is my process.

I help where I can ...
I am always thankful for each and everyday I am here.
Since I know it is a gift I don't squander ever...

Its a fallacy to believe (assuming a major emotional issue) will be accepted by realizing others have it worse. If its serious only to deny ones feelings may not be possible without the help of a psychologist. Some issues are amenable to being displaced with thinking others have it worse, while this may actually aggravate ones issue it does not resolve an underlying emotional conflict and help is likely best to address and resolve the emotional issue.

This might be the wrong forum to say this, but I need to say it: Do not worry about things we can't control. take all your problems to God. He will always be there for you and will never forsake you. As long as you trust in Him, things will work out for the better.

I don't just say that just to be saying it, I really believe it. Its hard at first to understand, but if you were to just give it all over to God you will see how your life will change
Ironic that god will look for one and let millions suffer guess you have to believe god knows best and the rest can suffer as they are ignored while the chosen are spared how nonsensical but then religious dogma requires all reason and logic to be ignored in favor of a comfortable fenced in dogmatic creed,,,

its not so much about God looking for one,,its about perception

even those who have not belief in God believe in similar philosophy

if you look at everything as a problem, it will be
if you look , instead, at things as if they are lessons and move past them , you will be stronger and better able to handle the next

similarly, for those of us with Faith,, if we take God out of it and take it all on ourselves,, its more likely to feel overwhelming and hopeless

however, if we believe for God to be there, we are less likely to feel overwhelmed and more likely to see God as giving us what we need to become our best,, and we are more likely to have the 'focus' to come through

op I feel for you ... Because everyone should have the right to express sorrow if that is what they want to do an feel ... sure its nice to think we may have it better then others but we still have feelings to ... and those feelings can over take you sometimes... and if you need meds or the help from professionals that is good to ... to many think we should be strong enough but when your mind is feeling not so good seek help ... becouse it is out there and don't hold it end becouse that is when and where suicide comes in ... hopefully have the strength to help yourself and feel no shame about it... I guess you could say shame kills... because you can not reach out for help ...

I was talking with Pops about "guilt".

How DARE I feel sorry for myself as a (check the fortunate list) white, american, male, cusp of 20th/21st century, relatively healthy, relatively good education........have had hard times, have even been in some dire situations

......but how dare I complain!!!!......I haven't walked miles, buckets in hand at the hope of some fresh water!

Dad (as only Dad can do) said, "A rich man's hell can be so much more agonizing than a poor man's plight!" It's about YOUR consciousness right?

Are you safe and well fortified tonight? Do you ever feel reDICK for feeling sorry for yourself?

In reading this; a quote from Kahlil Gibran comes to mind:
"I would not exchange the sorrows of my heart for the joys of the multitude.
And I would not have the tears that sadness makes to flow from my every part turn into laughter.
I would that my life remain a tear and a smile."

As the song says "regrets I have a few" but I don't feel sorry for myself. I may reflect, remember and re-analyze for personal grown, but no I don't feel sorry for myself. My mistakes are mine and I own them. Those things that weren't my fault are forgiven. Life's just too short to live any other way.
