"You know a lot of the gangs that you see in Baltimore and in St. Louis and Ferguson and Chicago, do you know they're illegal immigrants? They're here illegally," Trump said at a news conference Tuesday night in Dubuque, Iowa."And they're rough dudes. Rough people."

He said something similar on Sunday's, "Face the Nation" on CBS in response to a question about his platform on illegal immigration: "We're having tremendous trouble. You know, when you look at Ferguson and you look at St. Louis, like the other night, and you look at, let's say, Baltimore and Chicago, the gangs many of these gang members are illegal and they're tough dudes."

He lied about illegals being a gang problem in Ferguson and St. Louis.

Ferguson - 1.2% Hispanic.

St. Louis - 3.7% Hispanic.

ummm.. if they are illegal, they wouldn't be on a cities books...10-40 thousand illegals a day crossing the border, they have to be somewhere...

From your article,

Republican presidential candidate Donald
Trump says gang members in the country
illegally are causing trouble in Ferguson
and St. Louis, comments that aren’t ringing
true with local leaders.
“You know a lot of the gangs that you see in
Baltimore and in St. Louis and Ferguson
and Chicago, do you know they’re illegal
immigrants? They’re here illegally,” Trump
said at a news conference Tuesday night in
Dubuque, Iowa. “And they’re rough dudes.
Rough people.”
He said something similar on Sunday’s
“ Face the Nation” on CBS in response to a
question about his platform on illegal
immigration: “We’re having tremendous
trouble. You know, when you look at
Ferguson and you look at St. Louis, like the
other night, and you look at, let’s say,
Baltimore and Chicago, the gangs … many of
these gang members are illegal and they’re
tough dudes.”
Trump pledged to get them out of the
country if he is elected.
“They’re going to be gone so fast if I win
that your head will spin,” he said Tuesday.
Maggie Crane, the spokeswoman for St.
Louis Mayor Francis Slay, said Wednesday
that St. Louis doesn’t have gangs made up of
illegal immigrants.
“That’s not our problem,” Crane said. “I
invite Mr. Trump to come here and see for
himself.”
Mayor James Knowles of Ferguson said the
same of his city.
“I work here in town, I live here and I’ve
not seen them, and that’s not on our law
enforcement’s radar,” Knowles said. “No
large group of ethnically oriented gangs.”
Knowles added: “He’s making a lot of
assumptions. I don’t think Donald Trump
has ever set foot here.”
Knowles said Trump is free to talk about
Ferguson, but said the candidate should
come take a closer look.
“We do encourage Mr. Trump, any
presidential candidate who is interested in
these issues, we do encourage them to take
an opportunity to come here and see things
firsthand and work together with
communities like us around the country,”
Knowles said.
.......

" Many of these gangs members are illegal & they are tough dudes "

There is no lie. And I know you are talking about Missouri. That was the first link I gave you.... again.
There is no lie.

And why post about a small percentage of Hispanics? Are you posting ' legal Hispanics'? Who mentioned them ? Not Trump.
I think you are seeing Trump or the article or people wanting our REAL laws enfourced as Anti- Hispanic.
Mexico is our border state, they are 26% of Illegal Immigrants.
That is the only reason (& their criminality & anchor baby migration... that Trump mentioned them in the first place).

Glad you like Mexician food. Sorry for your friend, if they have illegals employed there.?

I guess the lesson learned is, never be surprised at what "The Donald" will say. It may not be what you want to hear but at least it's an honest answer. Much better than the chopped liver the other candidates spout out. And if you are going to ask him a leading question, just be ready to defend yourself. I'm no Trump fan but he a candidate to recon with.

I posted the small percentage because there are very few Hispanics in Ferguson and not many in St. Louis. You saw what the Ferguson Mayor and the St. Louis Mayor said. They do not have gangs made up of illegal immigrants. Trump should have researched that before he said it. He made it up.

You are thinking incorrectly. I am not for illegal immigration. I would like to see the 14th amendment revised.

My friend's family members work in his restaurant. He sometimes hires American teenagers too.

and not being from Arizona, I do wonder how ones citizenship status can be determined by how one looks,,,,?

It can't.

"Theoretically" and how Sheriff Arpaio explained how it worked, and what it was reported he was doing, was someone being caught doing something illegal (speeding, breaking into a house, broken tail light, drunk driving, jaywalking, whatever).

They are asked for i.d., insurance, registration, documents, or arrested, then the sheriff, or deputy, or a police officer asks them "are you a legal citizen of the U.S.?"

There was a lot of fanfare about that.

Because it's illegal for the police or sheriffs to ask a criminal if they are here illegally, since immigration is federal jurisdiction or something.

If the sheriff or police suspect someone is here illegally they have to call ICE and have them send someone over to the jail and ask if the criminal is here illegally.

For minor infractions the sheriff or police can only hold someone in jail for like 24 hours - 3 days depending on if they're charged with something or not and what they're charged with.

If ICE doesn't send someone over in the time the sheriff or police can legally hold a person, then the person has to be let out of jail and sent on their way.

ICE never sent anyone over, ever, for years, even when there were dozens of illegals (caught illegally crossing into the U.S.) sitting in the jail cell, citing "insufficient personnel," and, "wanting to focus on serious offenders like drug mules and drug runners and human traffickers."

That's why the sheriff started doing it in the first place (so he said).
1. the federal government wasn't enforcing their laws or helping law enforcement so he was going to.
2. to help overburdened federal agencies.

Police (theoretically) weren't arresting people for looking illegal and then trying to determine legal status, but catching them doing something illegal, and then during questioning about the illegal activity asking them if they were in the country illegally.

Especially if they had no drivers license, identification of any kind or completely fake i.d., didn't speak any english whatsoever, were giving the sheriff, deputies, or police random names, or they flat out confessed from the start that they were in the country illegally.

has ever set foot here.”

I posted the small percentage because there are very few Hispanics in Ferguson and not many in St. Louis. You saw what the Ferguson Mayor and the St. Louis Mayor said. They do not have gangs made up of illegal immigrants. Trump should have researched that before he said it. He made it up.

You are thinking incorrectly. I am not for illegal immigration. I would like to see the 14th amendment revised.

My friend's family members work in his restaurant. He sometimes hires American teenagers too.

------------------------------
Yes, believed me, I read everything I can get my hands on about Immigration & Migration (as European's call it). ...Since the 1970's when it first became a problem in the United States.

Trump did NOT start this. He is just the FIRST one, publicly saying the truth & what Americans really think & want, which is, " Our own laws, which are, already in place... enforced ".
Which have been, completly ignored., by THIS Administration..
NOW, drastic measures, & a wall are needed. * Previous Presidents ( at least 2), ALL promised to finished the wall. *

Read Trump's EXACT quotes. Read what HE says, NOT what others think he says or what others want people to believe. He is not making rasist comments.

Others, who want THEIR way & Democratic votes & who do not want to be held accountable for NOT following the law... are pulling the race card out of their back pocket to cover, their own ***.

Trump did NOT say, a gang (s) made up of Hispanics. Therefore he did NOT lie.

I read what those town Mayor's said.
What else can they say? Think about what would happen IF they say, "Trump is telling the truth "?
There would be incredible backlash from both sides of the issue & their careers would be over. Because THEY are responsible, for their town or city & have NOT done their job or followed the law.

Are you assuming that the OTHER politicians are telling the truth? Or that since you don't want to believe or for others to know, or you don't see gang activities .... That Trump is lying ? * reutorical *

I am sorry for you if your are concerned for your friends & their employees. And your think Trump is being mean to them or targeting them or Hispanics. But the truth is the truth. * The majority of ALL Illegals are South American & Mexican * Illegal Aliens are a major problem in this country & many other countries.. They became CRIMINALS (or already were) the minute they set foot in The United States.

* Believe me... Hispanic gangs or gang members , legal or illegal are NOT the problem in Baltimore ...
There are, OTHER groups of Illegal Aliens & LOTS of Natural Born American low lifes, p@ssing in their own yard & killing each other & blaming everyone else. *
