What are you having for Thanksgiving Dinner?
I'm still pondering. No ham this year, just a turkey for sure but pondering all the goodies that will go with it. Turkey w/Gibblet Gravy Mashed Potatoes Green Bean Casserole Stovetop Turkey Stuffing (Got sick one year from cooking stuffing inside the turkey) Cream Corn Yeast Rolls Those are a given. Still working on the relish tray and desserts. I'm thinking... Pretzel Breadsticks warmed and cut up with a nice Cheesy Fondue Deviled Eggs Red Hots, Pepperoni & Boudin Sausages cooked & cut up for the Fondue Tray Spicy Cajun Pickled Green Beans Pickled Red Beets Dill and Sweet Pickles Green & Black Olives Olive Brushetta on Toasted French Bread Squares Store bought Pumpkin Pie w/Whipped Cream Angel Food Cake with Raspberry Cream Topping Cucumbers, Sweet Onions, Tomatoes Cheddar & Mozerella Cheese with Raspberry Blush Basalmic Vinegar Splash My Famous Citrus Punch Pickled Sweet Cherry Peppers It's supposed to be 70 degs and clear Thursday, might do something on the grill. Expecting 9 of us in my little apartment. |

The usual Thanksgiving Day Meal....Turkey fried, not baked though....will eat too much as usual and nap away the afternoon

The usual Thanksgiving Day Meal....Turkey fried, not baked though....will eat too much as usual and nap away the afternoon Same here, probably - except for the "eat too much" part.  I've adopted a "survival strategy" for holiday dinners where I'll load up on the veggies from the relish tray (baby carrots, snow peas, broccoli, etc.) while the meal's cooking. That way, when the actual meal is served, I won't tear into it like a rabid badger...  I've found that it's a LOT easier to pay attention to what I put in my mouth than to try to exercise it all off later!

Thanksgiving is actually one of my favorite holidays. I am a good cook, so my skills are being wasted since I have nobody to cook for. I have made full Thanksgiving dinners on my own in my 20's. I baked bread just to make stuffing and I prefer cranberry sauce that is not from a can. I also would bake dessert too.
