What are you having for Thanksgiving Dinner?

I'm still pondering. No ham this year, just a turkey for sure but pondering all the goodies that will go with it.

Turkey w/Gibblet Gravy
Mashed Potatoes
Green Bean Casserole
Stovetop Turkey Stuffing (Got sick one year from cooking stuffing inside the turkey)
Cream Corn
Yeast Rolls

Those are a given.
Still working on the relish tray and desserts.
I'm thinking...

Pretzel Breadsticks warmed and cut up with a nice Cheesy Fondue
Deviled Eggs
Red Hots, Pepperoni & Boudin Sausages cooked & cut up for the Fondue Tray
Spicy Cajun Pickled Green Beans
Pickled Red Beets
Dill and Sweet Pickles
Green & Black Olives
Olive Brushetta on Toasted French Bread Squares
Store bought Pumpkin Pie w/Whipped Cream
Angel Food Cake with Raspberry Cream Topping
Cucumbers, Sweet Onions, Tomatoes Cheddar & Mozerella Cheese with Raspberry Blush Basalmic Vinegar Splash
My Famous Citrus Punch
Pickled Sweet Cherry Peppers

It's supposed to be 70 degs and clear Thursday, might do something on the grill. Expecting 9 of us in my little apartment.

I find that interesting.
A few years ago I watched a video about the Higgs-Boson.
The scientist was saying that the Higgs-Boson was what slows matter down and keeps reality from flying apart at the speed of light.
Just recently, the LHC confirmed that the Higgs-Boson exists. Now there is growing speculation of the same forces being discovered.
I think it could all be related.

The video on youtube is

Without relying on other people...how do you know if you have an inflated or inadequate sense of self worth

Considering that nobody is more important to me than myself it doesn't matter what others think of me. They either like me as I am or don't.

Thankfully my mom and dad didn't feel that way.
Pshew.

That comment would hold meaning if I was still an infant. But I am a grown up now. My parents are both long dead.

So never listen to any philosopher, psychiatrist, doctor, country western song, role model, icon, or parents?

No, the point is... Not to allow others insecurities and self-hatred to define who you are.

People in general are miserable and self-loathing. Many will do or say anything that will make their misery seem less than yours. If they can make you more miserable than them, they feel they have won something.

As an adult you should be able to define yourself to your own standards no matter what others tell you. You control your destiny. Its when you don't control it is when there is issue.

I have been through therapy...I have had PTSD and depression

Me too.
I learned to think for myself and stop letting others tell me what I need or want. I learned that I am not a bad person and that others don't have my best personal interests in mind when they criticize me.
Only I know what if best for me. If I make a mistake, that is how I learn.

All emotions have relevance. Positive and negative.

And, they are not meant to be everlasting. Its okay to be angry but if there is nothing you can actually do about it there is no point in staying mad. That's why its called madness.
Happiness comes and goes but contentment is a standard. Being content with life allows your emotions to ebb and flow.
Worry is creating stress over something you have no control over.
Age brings experience and experience is wisdom.

Can alway appreciate a good motorhead in the group

I did 160+ mph in a 68 roadrunner when I was young and stupid. My buddy in my challenger couldn't keep up. Used the gears to slow down like any mechanic would. Also drove a 67 chevelle with no steering wheel and no seat. Used vice grips for the steering and a cement block for the seat.

Suspecting enlightenment I clicked in to this topic.

Count down to what? From what?

Still can't get the point?

When I was in grade school the teacher had us write numbers counting to 1,000. (Still not sure why?) Is this something like that?

Is there a prize? Once we get to zero should we count in decimals?

At what point is the game won?

I go back to my guidelines:

Guideline #34 Don't rely on anyone else for your happiness or self-worth

Guideline #35 Don't allow other people's opinions to define or bring
you down

Wisdom

You would be surprised at how many people can't understand that.

When someone asks if I am happy I say "Happiness comes and goes, I am content"

Surprisingly, people are befuddled at that.

Personally, I don't care what my X says about me. From what I have heard, she thinks I was gold. She tells people that I was "too good" for her.
Considering what I found out about her after the rose-colored glasses broke, I wouldn't believe ANYTHING she says.
