I sometimes need to be hit over the head (me mongo) but is she flirting back?

Depends on the rest of her behaviour. If she gives you a flirtatious look back and/or a smile, possibly. If not, no.
Personally find it a bit weird to do such a thing after a guy has given a woman a flirtatious look. I wouldn't leave the room, cos then he'd probably assume I wasn't interested, and he might even leave while I was gone.

hahahahaha
I would never read ANYTHING into a woman's behavior.
They give meaning to 'whimsy.'

Or, it could have been for the guy seated directly
behind you, how will you ever know?

A smile is your best weapon there I think :-)

A woman playing with her hair, with her left hand, is a sure sign she is flirting with you. But to be positive, look for hardware on her fingers...if she has none, she is telling ya...she is single and available. And they always run the fingers of the left hand thru the hair.....universal sign, I do believe....

I am tired, almost passing out in my chair as it's close to 2 am, so my English may be down the drain. But are you referring to women with your 'senseless'?
If so, I may be coming after your @$$ with a trident Mr Moe! pitchfork Oh, make that a pitchfork.

I have no idea what THAT woman was communicating, if anything. I know that depending on my mood, I might think nothing of it, or be concerned that she took one look at me and decided that a good washing up was needed. Not necessarily encouraging.

The only way I've ever been sure a woman was flirting, is that when I (as usual) totally miss it, she gets very angry at me.

It's doubly difficult to recognize "signals" in professional-type situations. Such as when a vendor is dealing with a customer, I mean, not what certain people here will instantly want to assume.

One of the things that seems to be true with people in general, and therefore women, is that when they think they are communicating non-verbally, they almost never realize that all most people get is the basics.

Such as, if you are flirting, and you are scared about the results, a lot of us will pick up on the nervousness or fear, and be unable to tell if you're afraid we WILL try to take you up on it, or that we WONT try to take you up on it.

All in all though, from what I've observed, if you figure out some way to comfortably and politely (for you) make verbal contact of some sort, you will have only two possible results if you try: one, she'll brush you off, and no harm done; or two, a conversation of sorts might ensue, and you could make use of the opportunity.

That should make my life a whole lot easier! Just walk around without a bra and I will be flirting non-stop. laugh
Why didn't you tell us sooner?

PS it will become painful very soon though? Hmmm... maybe I'll try the old-fashioned way after all..

I would usually say "Why bother looking for signals, instead of just talking normally with her?",yet I see why you'd want to know. Though don't think about it too much. As it will play with your mind. Signs can be confusing. I'm bad at reading body language, so I can't help it if I miss any signs of flirtatious body language. That's exactly why whenever I want a man, I flirt with him. As I don't honestly know what to look for. Actually not everyone can understand body language, so no wonder some people are confused about signals.
