I tried to lie about my age... once.
But, the ticket vendor at the movie theatre
wouldn't buy that I'm younger than 12.

mad

Kinda reminds me of the time we lied to get into to see. movies rated "A"...yup, 14 year olds posing as 18 years old or was it 21....the good days...

Meh...
It was a sucky movie.
I didn't wanna have to pay full price.

Absolutely. . . not! I'm 31.

People act differently in their stages of life. For instance, you tent to listen to rap music when you're younger than when you're old. I don't think our grand parents like rap. Well, this is just an example. Would you like to think you're dating someone who's the same age as you're daughter?

Normally the man should be 3 to 6 years older than the woman, but as they get close to 30, this difference doesn't matter anymore. If your age gap is just 1 or 2 years, tell the truth because when you're around 30 it doesn't matter.

If one lies about their age, they will have to suffer their differences or it'll end up in a grieved break up. You may feel heart-broken , but you'll also feel proud when you tell the truth. This is me! , if you don't like me, I'm OK with that.

I tell people I'm 65, and they're amazed at how young I look.

Well... I've never lied about my age. But the internet and real life are very different situations when it comes to age.
For instance, I look much younger than my age (49), I dress and behave and feel much younger too. I do not resonate with average 'older' people at all.

In real life I would automatically attract people that resonate with me. In real life I don't walk around with a sign saying "I'm 49". So people will be attracted to me for what I exude, how I look etc.

Online though ... many have settings / filters "looking for a woman between 40 and 49"
Meaning that as soon as I hit 50 in May ... I will get filtered out.

Same with speed dating. Age groups 30-40 ... 40-50 ... There usually aren't even groups for ppl 50 and up anymore.
So as soon as I hit 50 in May, I will even be excluded from speed dating.

Some do have a group for 50 and up. Meaning there will likely be a lot of men in their 60s and 70s ...

I'm not for lying about age, I've never done it either. But online being honest will work against me nonetheless. In real life it won't matter. Online, different story.
So it's not that I have a problem with my age, it's more that others do and will judge me based on age, not on who I am and what I look like.

There has to be lines drawn somewhere when it comes to search parameters and age is a very common one used to help narrow down the results. So, yes, you might be "ruled out" next year, but the loss is theirs, not yours. I limit my search based on the female age group I tend to relate to best; 46 to 56. Any younger than that and it seems to be a generation gap, any older and it seems to be a different mindset than mine.

It's the same thing with women searching for men; the overwhelming majority of them (based on my experience, your results may vary) limit their parameters based on body type, amongst other factors. As I am honest about my body type, I do not show up on their results list. Again, the loss is theirs, not mine. Some people - men and women - have a long grocery list of "must haves", others - like me - tend to have a more realistic expectation and outlook and don't care about physical attributes, I (we) are more concerned about the elusive and hard to define "chemistry" that provides a much more solid foundation to build a relationship on.

Yes you're right.
I was kind of shocked though to find out that speed dating is generally not available for people over 45!?
From what I see, there's a huge amount of singles 45-58ish.
Maybe many of them aren't interested in speed dating, so they don't bother?
I was thinking about it the other day, cos I it seems like fun. And yet another experience. But yeah ... I'm over 45. Apparently society has decided I'm past my sell-by date ohwell
