It would have been nearly impossible without sharing gasoline to run the generators. Two of the homes with the best insulation were used to shelter the very young and very old. The generators were operated three times in 24 hours. Refrigerators were chosen for newness and surrounded with extra insulation.

Getting rid of waste was the largest problem - counting all folk of the nine families (47).

We managed. Captured rain water was boiled. Food was pretty extravagant at the start and very limited until the national guard dropped off half a pallet of MRE's two weeks later.

It was an Adventure.

I think that one of the greatest changes from then to now, isn't the external technological change, it's the inner sociological change. Mainly, in those early days, you would consider your life and existence to be fulfilling and of value, if you managed to survive long enough to have children.

Now, people have time and money to look down their noses at each other for ONLY managing to get by.

In other words, what's enviable to me, about the "old old days," is the sense of inner peace and place in existence.

I agree there is a huge social change. In the past, most people were kind and caring. Nowadays, they will just as soon as step over your dying body than to help you. It's getting crazier in the world every day. People are being more self, and they will sue you at the drop of a hat. It's ridiculous.

I'll love to live in Stone Age, Provided that we had the Strength of Population we are having right now.
God did not made relations/religions and bla bla bla!
it would be better to meet a new lady everyday and just have physical contact...
It should be like You wake up in the morning, brush your teeth, bath and just go outside to have a new lady. You would be serving her all the day, protecting her, doing everything she wants and at the night, she would serve you (u know, what I mean?)
and the next day, another Lady
This way the world won't be boring and The Ladies will receive the required attention, love and care and Men will get what they want.
