Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.

If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the mapquest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary.

Please look up your own number.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (http://www.google.com/ <http://www.google.com/> ) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone who needs to know this.

Please share this information with friends and family

you could always do this

all you had to do was go to library

look up the number in the book

read the name n address

then go look in the atlas

nothing new

just online is all

if number is unpublished it will not come up

but it may if you buy the program

Only works in the US.

The reverse telephone directory is illegal in the UK

This is really nothing new and it's no worse than http://www.zabbasearch.com/ which searches public information records

This information system is exactly why I have said for years that if you don't want to be played by a married man/woman all you have to do is ask some basic questions.

These directories tell not only who's number it is but who also lives at the residence that recieves mail there for how many years. In other words wives and kids.

"Players", can play; because the average person wants to believe what they want to believe. And are often too lazy to check if the basic facts of what they are being told is true.

This basic survival skill; how to research a source is High School English II. But then how many American women are actually graduateing HS with enough skill to write a basic term paper or retaining it after they hand in the assignment?

I have seen, with my own eyes, criminally insane mental patients call and write women with children for months from state hospital or prison addresses. It is a violation of their civil liberties to interfer with their mail but it would not have been a violation if one of them actually just checked out the return address.
