if you dont know them a BIG NAH
but if you are going to do that, do one thing first
have that person post a pic of themself holding a piece of paper with some word or phrase you choose
like the name of the state they live in on the paper
at least then you will know you actually have the person in the pic and not some scammer trying to get you off site
but you really are better off to take the time to talk to someone on the site for a time and not to rush off site to talk to them

Not safe. Scammers are using so called skype bots. They won't ever talk to you. A bot is a computer program creating something similar to human conversation via skype messenger.
However, some girls want to move to skype just to get evidence that you're a real guy and not a scammer .. but it usually happens after some period of acquaintance ..
So don't rush .. check the waters .. stay safe

so apparantly the police are trying to track down a scammer at my school
who has been blackmailing older, married men who have exposed themselves to her on social media

just be aware these kind of people are out there

Scummy, slimy, older married men everywhere, who think a raincoat is proper attire for any situation, are thanking you for the heads up, Trish...

I have Skyped with a few women I've met online.
It was always after we established who we were.
It is a valuable tool when courting someone to see their mannerisms in real time.

My Skype is usually off unless someone I know contacts me wanting to Skype with me. Then I turn it on.

Skype also has a messenger and I have used it as IM as well.

I have screen-shared a movie with a woman that was a pleasant experience too.

I have also fixed a woman's computer using Skype to direct her while she shared her screen with me.

I have my preferences set to only allow contacts that I choose.

I have also done multi-casts with my children.

Skype is not 'bad' as log as you use it correctly with the right people.

Not safe. No reason to go off site. Get to know them here for a while 1st

If you decide to go off site with someone here, don't come back complaining of scam. When you go off site, it is out of Mingles jurisdiction.

For those that think giving your e-mails or skype out to someone you don't know~~~~~

What is stated above is happening all over even on this site...

So be safe keep your personal info to yourself till you find out the person is even legit... They get the guys to skype then they record them doing their thing and then tell them if they don't send so much money to them they will post the video on facebook...

I also do not believe there is a reason to immediately go off site. It makes me suspicious.

I am also , for personal reasons, never going to go on SKYPE or anything else that requires a camera on my technology. I dismantle or cover them up because I have been stalked before and the possibility of it happening again creeps me out.

Mingle provided all sources of communication tools here for free and which we really don't need to use any one of the personal tools we have to communicate. I would say if one couldn't come here and get to know you and plan to meet in person, then don't waste time and just report them. So far I have got numerous messages that in same format to ask personal email, or skype. Also to be safe get yourself a google number so you don't have to give your personal number if you think you don't want to miss out any opportunities. Sometime you might able to get a lucky one that is real instead of scam but so far I can tell 100% as all the one I gave skype, phone number or the dating email I got for scammers turned out all asking for money because they are not at the location as they posted on their profile and want to come back to meet or they are cam girl wants you to rate their cam. They really need to come up some new stories to make this more fun I think. :P

This is good and most of them would get really upset and make you feeling like you are the bad one here. Don't fall for it, walk away and you will find someone real some day.
