IRAN says no to U.N.sanctions.
A senior Iranian envoy on Friday rejected U.N. sanctions on his country as invalid, and accused the U.S of using unfounded scare tactics in insisting Tehran was trying to develop a nuclear weapon.
The comments by Ali Asghar Soltanieh, the chief Iranian delegate to the International Atomic Energy Agency, were made available to The Associated Press before delivery at the closing session of the IAEA's 35-nation board as it focused on an agency investigation of the Islamic Republic's nuclear program and its defiance of a U.N. Security Council ban on uranium enrichment.
Soltanieh on Thursday called on the Security Council to close the file on his country's nuclear activities, saying Iran was close to dispelling fears about its intentions that have prompted sanctions.
In comments Friday, he said Security Council resolutions demanding a stop to the activity — a possible path to nuclear weapons — have "no legal basis." And he accused Washington of making "a political issue" of what he maintained was Tehran's peaceful nuclear program by falsely warning of the "threat of Iran's plutonium nuclear weapon."

the last time someone said no to the house of bush,he found himself hanging from a rope...here we go again.

Short of al qaeda themselves having a nuke, what could be more dangerous than iran having one? Hopefully whichever Republican presidential candidate that ends up winning (F. Thompson!) will have the stones to do what it takes to prevent such a nightmare scenario.

for years we faced the USSR with 1,000's of nukes pointed our direction...and still do as far as we know..yet we are s'posed to shake in our boots over Iran (who doesnt have the delivery system)...
whatever happened to diplomacy & negotiation?...this has less to do about nukes as it does about US dollars & oil & Israel....dont have to be a scientist to figure that out...

Ron Paul will negotiate within the guidelines of the constitution...something that woud be a breathe of fresh air...
Go Ron!!! ....keep winning those straw polls...

That's if Thompson bothers to show up to make the decision. He may "have the stones" to do what it takes--I'm from the state he represented as a Senator. Trust me, Matt, he doesn't--but what good is it if he's too lazy and uninterested in doing anything?

As crazy as Irans leaders may seem...I doubt they would need or use a "delivery" system like a ballistic missle....It would come through the Mexican or Canadian border by proxy of some Islamic terror group.

I'm sorry but Bush and the republicans are NOT the dangerous ones. For crying out loud, they are the ones trying to STOP the "dangerous" nations like "Iran and Syria" who publicly SUPPORT and SUPPLY suicide bombings by muslim martyrs with their enormous oil revenues and hatred for the US. Lets not even mention them brainwashing their youth to hate us! Bush has nukes. How many has he dropped? NONE. And BTW it was a liberal president who dropped nukes on Japan. Please don't make comments like that. Repubicans want world peace as much as anyone. They just see the reality of the situation unlike some/most of the democrats. You guys need to wake up.

AWWW man here we go, remember people it took 9 long years of brutal warfare for Iran to fight Saddam to a stalemate, and two weeks for us to depose him. Why is everyone so afraid of Iran, because of a little posturing? Check Israel they've been spying on us and never sent troop 1 in our support! Get off the fear mongering, And yes I'm Army

I see what you're saying, but its not just us that are pressuring Iran. Most of the world is united in the strong opinion that they should not be able to possess nukes (weapons). The world is far too small for terrorist sponsoring countries to attain WMD's. Once Iran goes nuclear, the entire world will change, and not in a good way. And just btw, Iran's president firmly believes that he must start "chaos" in the world to hurry the arrival of the next Islamic Imam. This is scary stuff. And I hate to be the guy who has to inform people who are too lazy to do the research or who just flat out don't care. It's not that I hate Iran. Its just that their leaders should not be trusted. AT ALL.

Iran should not be allowed to make progress toward nuclear weapons. It is a real threat. At one time the Nazi party was viewed as Keystone Cops.
