Liberia immigrants charged with smuggling food used in religious practices

Defense papers also argue that the U.S. demand for the meat involved in the Manneh case — from Africa’s green monkey population — is “too small to have any significance for conservation.”

Manneh, 39, testified last year that before arriving in the United States more than 25 years ago, monkey meat was critical to her religious upbringing.

Comming to America some things must be sacrificed you know? The positives should outweight the negatives, this applies even in realationships. This womean should have known about the issue and made a decission based on it. Sounds like she made one, no one forced her to adventure into the U.S.A am i wrong?

What people eat within their own culture is their business is what I think about the topic, and prefer not to judge them..

I don't have to like it, but I am not considering eating any animal in the near future...so monkey isn't on the menu..

why do you think that she not be permitted to have monkey meat

if you can have cow why can't she have monkey

what is the difference

killing of an animal for food

they are both animals right

Permitted is one thing... Comming into a country which does not permit it and then trying to be allowed to eat it is another...I disagree

but on what basis is it not permitted

and why is that basis considered right

does that mean if you go to a country where

cow is illegal and you are caught with a burger

you should go to jail for 5 years and be deported

I remember years ago going across the border to buy fat free milk, and fat free cheese. At the time, the canadian FDA considered it unsafe for consumption here...I still went there to buy it though!

Take note though that the fat free milk I would buy would keep for almost 2 months in the fridge.....I wonder what they put in there now?huh

so if it is inspected it should be ok

after all beef has a possibility of mad cow disease

then it should be illegal as well should it not

Respect the laws of the land by all means. Dont except to come to another country trying to change policy you know? Granted maybe making "monkey meat" illegal is rather harsh, but whats more harsh to me is she disregarded her religious beliefs to live in such a country, dont question her intentions, question her faith.....

this thread is about why should one meat be outlawed

and other meat not be

and it is not about her

either killing for food is wrong

or it is not wrong

why can 1 animal be sacrificed while others are safe

because a law says you can not have it
