I guess if you're not face to face but you're top to toe then that's fine, but wouldn't really be a conversation more likely to be, left a bit, right a bit winking

When I was on f book I'd have long conversations but most of the time it was waiting for a reply, due to the fact that people are so dam rude trying to talk to a few people at once rant
Hence the reason I left happy

Why didnt you start conversations with other people too mikey, like they were doing?

surprised because I think it's rude!
And darling, you know guys struggle with multi tasking laugh
But, at one point I did try but ended up saying the wrong thing to the wrong people, laugh
Also, if we were face to face you wouldn't accept someone just turning away and start talking to someone else would you?

You had me laughing when I read the multi-tasking comment mikey laugh

When I started conversing online, I also learned that multi tasking was common so I adapted, but if its offensive to you , then I can understand why you wouldnt put up with it :)

There have been times where I've had 5 or 6 hour long phone conversations with women that I was interested in. Subjects ranging from everything.
I also prefer to have face to face interaction, but sometimes the phone has to do. As it's not always easy to just get together when you live more than an hour away or further.

It goes without saying that face to face is the best interaction of all scoob, but the conversation can be so easily discarded if the physical chemistry is powerful. Sometimes the long phone convos can be a good tool for adding some depth to the interaction . Do you agree?

Peggy, I would agree with that.
Voice inflections also give you clues to how questions are answered, and can be the tell all in whether a person is lying or giving you the truth. Great, for if you haven't met that person face to face or had a video chat with.

I agree. You can learn to read people from a different angle when you arent distracted by all the other gestures they use

Yes have to laugh!
Wouldn't say offensive, just a bit rude I think, it's like the situation when you're talking to someone and a person they know comes along but they don't introduce you to them! Or is it me? sad2

When I college I met Irene around two in the afternoon. We met on campus at the U of H and talked till 6 then she invited me to her parents house nearby. We talked I met her mother father, grandmother, maid and talked till 530 in the morning , At this time her father came into the living room and said In our house the guests must leave when the sun came up so after 13 plus hours I did leave. We have continued to converse till today and will do so till one of us dies as friendship such as ours is eternal Not only is she bright but also wise and speaks 6 languages, was sued by the US government for 200 million dollars and she won!! Irene is incomparable and indefatigable too

I just think some of the rules of engagement in the online world are not identical to that of the offline world Mikey.

If any stranger tells me hi in a face to face interaction , I tell them hi back even if they are smelly. But Ive ignored hundreds of hi greetings in the cyber world.

The principle of cyber politeness is less rigid than face to face politeness I think

Oh definitely, I've lost count of how many times I've sent you a message saying 'hi ' and you never replied laugh
No, it's definitely different online and I think it takes some of the skills of interaction away from people especially if they are constantly online or texting happy

We really seem to have lost the ability to totally focus on one person in conversation, take in their body language and articulate ideas in a fluid way.

You have a good point there Mikey :)

In high school:
Attached to the wall by a 6' spiral cord, sitting on the stairs talking sweet nothing to my sweetheart.

In the service:
Sitting on the deck at night talking about the Universe and Life. Solving all the world's problems with logic and reason.

Laying with my wife on the floor:
Dreaming dreams and planning our life with our children.

On website forums:
Page after page of enlightenment and fantasies.
Meaningless banter to while away the hours.

Afternoons that turned into evenings and straight on to morning:
Camping trips, tailgating, backyard fire-pits and trail exploring.

My Favorite Subjects:
Depends upon who I am with and my connection with them.
Always- Practical physics
Psychology and awareness
Intimately, erogenous zones and applications of pleasure
Extreme engineering and motorsports
Amazement and awe
Over-looked concepts and examples of people acting against their nature
Anything enlightening
I love the 'did you know' conversation.

Duration:
A few hours to 96 hours - in all fairness I must explain that the 96 hour conversation happened in college and we were all tripping on acid.

I would love to have someone here with me to talk with.

that's immediately what I thought of...."back in the day" when everybody was tripping and on who knows what...conversations that would last for days and nights...solve all the world's problems and all of life's mysteries... then you sobered up and forgot it all

My problem is I didn't forget
I have an excellent memory
I can even recall the stuff I felt while tripping often almost tripping again.
But then, I'm weird.
