Good Evening my devoted lovely people of mingle2, I love the dialogue on my last 2 hot tea topics on Charlottesville, But I got a crazy one for you all. Shouts out to my loyal followers, I can't hold it back anymore. Let's get right into it. Now to all my video game smart phone gamers you remember the popular horror game the "Slender Man" series right? Well I went to Vice.com and I came across this article about a 15 year old girl Anissa Weier pleads guilty to attempted second degree homicide using a knife to stab a classmate. Her lawyer wants to contest that she has mental health issue, but real American's isn't buying that on Mr. Man. Then the article goes on to explain the other girl that was with Anissa Morgan Geyser stabbed a classmate 19 times followed by a sleepover then walked hundreds of miles in Wisconsin's deep forest to meet " Slender Man". Okay, America, I know what you thinking, this case is 12 monkey crazy, but its true. America, is video games today is too influentially negative or is these are just some teenage girls that acted on there own? Or Are you buying the mental health card? I mean I see it if you brutally stab a classmate 19 times, and you head to the forest to find " Slender Man" well......maybe there is something going with you, and you need help. So America, let's talk what's you take on this? Is It Video Games the cause of murder or is it just hog wash? Lets talk!

All Replies Will Be answered Back
Thank you sincerely

EyeAmYourHost39,

America, check me out, Anissa & Morgan did a heinous act. no doubts about it. I think it is some mental health going along with some demon possession. The case is still early in so I don't know if they will spend the rest of there lives or death sentence I keep you all posted on that. I love video games, grand theft auto , the saint row series, many others but I'm not go out and steal cars or shoot up cities. I like call of duty, you don't see me places drones against people. where I'm getting at is video games are entertainment. Video games shouldn't raise your children, parents she do there jobs and be the parents. But then again that wouldn't always be fair to blame the parents. Slender Man will always be a horror game. Should one go out and murder trying to copy him? ahhhh...no! The kicker with me is not to make fun of the girl went out into the forest searching for Slender Man, but I read that and was like " Oh dear, well I hope you did run into Slender Man, & he tells you, turn yourself in, it's the only way".

They need to reopen all the asylums and add a whole lot more. People in general have wigged out, it gets clearer from one headline to the next.
From removing historical statues to yelling at the first lady and her child on a plane to believing Puttin had a hand in Trump's win and now Slander Man lives somewhere in the woods... Ooookay.

This "slender man" case happened just a few miles from here over a year ago. These two girls obviously have some "issues". One girl seems to be the dominant one over the other. She believed "slender man" would kill her and her family if she didn't kill. Two screwed up people who will hopefully be spending a long long time in therapy and under lock and key.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the victim survived.

Well that's good news.
Bad news is that these two psychopaths get a lighter sentence and will probably be out in less than 5.
Had it been two boys who did that, they would've gotten 20 years in the electric chair.

MotownDowntown,

Really.....so i take it this was in your local news in your area. Do you agree video games can influence murder? I mean can you imagine i play call of duty which if you dont follow its a next gen military game, i play it then i run into a forest looking for enemy to shoot. Sounds bizarre huh? I think those young ladies just acted out of rage.

Rooster35,
I think your right. They are minors so the bad news will apply. Its a shame kids today cant have a nice sleepover anymore. Sleep overs should be fun. Movies all night. Sing songs, pig out on junk food not planning a brutal murder then run into the woods to look 4 the leprechaun sort of speak.

I want to say this, when Grand Theft Auto first came out critics said it was violent and promoted sex and bad language. When Need For Speed came out they said it was promoted illegal street races. No matter what game today that's next gen critics will always say something. Rock rap death metal oh it promotes this or that. Web porn reality tv and other forms of entertainment will always have be influence to our youth. You have to monitor your children exposure not the entertainment companies. Young people you have separate reality from fantasy.

No, violent video games don't turn folks into violent people. But a lot of violent people play violent games.

Same as porn doesn't turn someone into a rapist, but a lot of rapists watch porn.

These two young ladies didn't act out of rage. They were two highly disturbed people living in a fantasy world.

Video games, TV shows and Movies CAN influence behavioral traits if someone impressionable is exposed to them for a long duration.
The degree of influence is unique to the participant.

Mental stability also has an effect on exposure.
Maturity also affects how these horrific exposures are processed.
Emotionally unstable or emotionally twisted individuals might choose to use the methods seen on-screen.

It is very important that parents/guardians reinforce morals to their children that are exposed to these influences.
They also need to be aware and guide their children's emotional maturity.

The content itself is not the trigger, it is the mind of those exposed.
My children were raised watching horror movies and playing violent video games.
As a parent, I explained how inaccurate they are. I assured my children that they can come to me if they are having a bad time, they still do.
None of my children are violent. They still watch horror movies and they still play the games. They know there is a line that they should not cross. They have good morals because we reinforced them when they were young.

I must restate my opening statement:It's important!

Video games, TV shows and Movies CAN influence behavioral traits if someone impressionable is exposed to them for a long duration.

Without guidance, anything is possible. It depends on the person.

I always err on the side of kids, they are still developing. We are in an age where more and more adults refuse to believe actual facts set before them but grab onto the fantasies that suit their fancy. Why would children learn any differently?

I do believe there was 'illness' there. I do not believe it was the games 'fault' but the combination of the wrong stimuli given to an unbalanced mind.

These two girls were about twelve years old when this happened about three years ago. One has been diagnosed as schizophrenic. So yeah, wrong stimuli given to an already unbalanced mind.
