Golden Globes anyone watching it? Myself I have listen to it the first 30 minutes and it's all about Women rights and the Sexual Harassment that has happened...

I'm one if I watch something I want it to be what it is about.. If they want to make it Political they need to buy air time just for that.. Those that are interested in it would watch..

I have been in my office listening to it or I would have already turned the channel~~~~

So am I the only one that thinks this way???

I know many say freedom of speech.. I just think if it is going to be about the Golden Globes then stick to what the Golden Globes is suppose to be about.

The Hollywood group, who should know better, have always used
award shows as a venue to put across their politics and positions.

Apparently they are not bright enough to notice that this practice
drives away viewers and sympathizers.

For the very reasons you state.

Odd woman out here, apparently.

Im not much into awards shows, but I imagine those who are true fans of the trend are not turned away from hearing opinions, whether about politics or fashion choices ... I even commend public figures for using their public exposure to bring attention to issues going on in the country instead of just to themselves.

I will hear about/read about all the highlights after the show and then decide if its anything I want to catch on streaming later.

I understand that public figures should take time to bring things to attention just not when it is about something else and they use that time for their benefit.

If they want to bring attention to things they have plenty of time to do that when they get interviewed..

All I can say as soon as I hit the living room and the actually show started due to the first hour seemed to be about them hitting the red carpet ect...Which was all about why they were wearing black due to Sexual Harassment in Hollywood. After the first 2-3 times hearing that I was like okay they are all wearing black we get it... I turned it off within just a few minutes of the show actually starting, first thing they started in on was Political stuff.

Big Bang Theory was much better then listening to them about Sexual Harassment and joking about the President and those that were caught in the Sexual Harassment cases.. Yea that is enough for me to turn it and watch something else...slaphead

Had not watched it in years I just wanted to see if that is what they would do which to me joking about those that were accused of Sexual Harassment, to me that was in poor taste due to it just happening I really don't think it is a joking matter...

Its only a difference of opinion, but it is my belief that the majority of celebrities do not necessarily have interviews scheduled in a timely fashion to address current issues. So whatever public platform they get, if its tasteful and authentic, I applaud them for using it.

So they all wore their $20,000 dollar black dresses.. to protest. Well now that makes a big difference.. doesn't it.

Yea like it made a difference they were all in black.. They should have all donated what they spent on those gowns to help Rape victims instead...

I would rather see them put their money where their mouth is and actually make a difference...

I understand wanting to support or give voice. For me, there are times amd places that aren't appropriate. Celebrities have the means to do demonstrations, commercials, interviews, etc to get the word out already.

I get worried about accusations though. If someone uses a public forum to bash accusations, without legal charges (etc) that can do a lot of damage.

I have never watched the awards show because I could really care less who won what. That aside, you should not be allowed to hi jack a show or any venue to state your " cause".

So now what... they wore black... what's the next step?

There isn't any... the black dress goes back to the designer that lent it to them.... that's it.

Next Monday I plan to wear grey...to protest the occasional dolphin that gets caught in tuna nets... F.. the tuna... they are tasty, therefor have no rights.

Anybody in?

Hell I am going to wear bright colors to protest the awards and nfl taking advantage and thinking they are some how privileged.

I could never do that on the job or even use any function to protest

We wear black to funerals and white to weddings, why?

black symbolizes mourning, white maybe symbolizes celebration

not because of what it changes, but merely symbolism. Of course, people can wear whatever color they want at a public event, and for whatever reason.

Had they kept it to the silent protest of color
(wearing black) the show could have run normally.

But adding personal opinion crap is the equivalent
of turning on the TV to watch 'The Flying Nun'
and then a gall bladder operation takes over the space.

lol ... okay.

I kind of view all awards as full of opinion, the place where people show their opinions and share their opinions about primarily the players that they enjoy the most, the people those players admire or are helped or inspired by, but also about fashion and several other things....

I love awards shows so yes, I watched the Golden Globes
and I agree it turned out to be a huuuuuuuge protest show.
But I was more pissed that Freddie Highmore didn't win for
Best Actor Drama tv series. Ask me who won.. it wasn't
Freddie Highmore.

I had to look that one up ...lol

I imagine it will be in next year. I researched a bit and found that the last date of submission for this year was halloween of last year, the publicist or studio must submit the suggestion, and the show has to have had at least 150 running minutes by the time of submission.

Good Doctor premiered on September 25th, with approximatly 42 minutes per episode. Which would have made it only eligible as of October 16th, only two weeks before deadline. Maybe noone got in the forms? But even if they did, maybe they wanted to go with something with a longer following?

But in any case, its a great show with great writing and acting. Here's to the next Golden Globedrinker

Did you join the protest by sitting on your couch wearing your black PJ's?

No. Sexual harassment is not one of the issues I have a protest about, but Kudos to those for whom it is that use their spotlight to make a stand.

Exactly just how I felt and the reason I turned the channel and will most likely never watch it again..

Now if that is what they are trying to do, have their show bomb cause many viewers will choose to turn the channel due to they can not keep it about the awards then I guess they proved their point.....whoa
