Looking more and more likely that a major hurricane will be striking most of Florida and parts of the southeast in the later part of the week.

Hurricanes and sink holes are the price you pay for living in that area.

Not to mention low taxes and great weather. As a former resident of Florida, if your prepared the trade off is worth it.

It's a big swamp filled with old people and rif-raf. By "great weather" are you referring to 90° and humid with scattered showers? Or the occasional hurricane? Maybe this is a sign the state needs a good cleaning? Have you done the "Florida man" challenge?🤣

I was just thinking the same thing! Not to mention all of our family members and friends who also live in Florida. And my adorable 10 and 12 year old great nephews, and all the sweet pre-k kids I met when subbing in their classroom... Oh, the list goes on and on...

Oh well, much too busy enjoying life with my beautiful and successful family members and co-workers to be concerned with narrow minded judgmental comments such as this, haha!

So no offense taken, Dusty tongue2

Thanks Blondey! waving

Sounds like you are not a fan of the sunshine state. So Floridians can sleep at night knowing you won’t be visiting anytime soon with your ignorance. Not sure where you are but I bet it sucks .

I said its filled with old people and rif-raf, didn't say everybody there was. My parents have been snow birds there for close to 20 yrs ( old people) And my daughter and her BF just moved there 2 1/2 weeks ago, I was down there for the 1st week helping them fix their place up which is probably going to get wiped out it the hurricane. Driving in near Gainesville it started to rain, 5 cars were in the ditch in 5 miles, how is that even possible? Even in bad blizzards I seldom see that many cars in the ditch. They make about half as much money down there, and people move at a different pace. I'm not sure what people see in the ocean, it's either too hot, or too windy, and it smells. But to each their own. I will just keep paying my insurance and taxes so that every time the people of Florida get wiped out by a hurricane they can rebuild and get wiped out again. So I may be visiting Florida again real soon Bart, but there is also a chance I never step foot in that state again. Any way I hope everybody has made smart decisions on what to do, and where to go.

It took the libs. 1 day to politicize the destruction in Florida after Hurricane Ian. It must be caused by global warming according to the fools in the MSM. They actually say that if DeSantis would have spent the $$ he used to move illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, if he had spent it on climate change initiatives, maybe this hurricane wouldn’t be happening. I can’t help but laugh at the self inflated egos these “ geniuses “ process. During covid they were infectious disease experts, now their meteorologists. Our president must be taking his ques from these bafoons cause he is saying the same thing. …Guns kill, car exhaust causes hurricanes, open borders are good for America, and spending more $$ reduces inflation…. Only in the bizarro world.

If the libs are meteorologist they are not very good at it. All the models showed it would hit Tampa or north until the day before. Ian took the same path that hurricane Charley took 17 years ago and that was also forecast to hit Tampa. That did $17billion in damages, but with population growth and inflation they believe Ian will do about $50billion in damage, doesn't seem like that is major climate as much as poor planning. The insurance business is a disaster in Florida, they can build buildings to withstand cat 4 and cat 5 storms, it's the water that does most of the damage. One county had space for 40,000 evacuees and only 4,000 showed up. Cry wolf too many times and people fail to listen.

On a note of open borders, a Pinellas county Florida sheriff was run over and killed by a frontend loader on a road construction site. It was driven by an illegal from Honduras who took off, handed his helmet and jacket to another illegal and hid in the woods til they tracked him down. Apparently even in DeSantis's state they let illegals work on the roads, is this because Americans are too lazy to work? Or the contractors are hiring cheap labor without the government checking up on it?

Fuel prices are shooting back up, I assume this is because of the hurricane, they had been dropping as they usually do after Labor day. I assume Biden will have all the answers to this like buying more oil from the middle east even thou we have plenty here. If climate change and inflation are such big factors why would anyone trying to fight these things think lower fuel prices are a good thing? When people can't afford to buy gas and groceries then prices (inflation) will go down. People will drive less or buy more fuel efficient cars. Only thing I can think is there is an election coming and they will do whatever it takes to buy some votes.

Florida, is too much to summed up in such a way.

You're too harsh. Florida is too precious to be summed up by such generalities:

Sinkholes: Look at the developer of the land.

Hurricanes: Lived in Tornado alley for all my life, all my houses are still there.

There is a price to pay for EVERYTHING

It's natural disasters no one can stop that because of global warming, people all over the world is responsible for what happened... now and the future!

Global warming is a natural occurrence just like solar flare ups or eclipse’s or meteors. History shows us the earth has been warming at times and cooling at times. Its been happening since the time of creation. IMO man has little to do with changes to our earth.
