Thank you, GetHappy, for bringing this up. This is something I've said in several threads here. Breaking it down once again:

THE IRAQI CITIZENS/"GOVERNMENT" DOESN'T WANT US TO LEAVE.

Why?

Simple. Is there any welfare recipient who actually WANTS to be "dropped from the rolls"? Iraq is now a welfare state, and the US Government is happily signing the welfare checks. The Iraqis have ZERO interest in running their own country or defending themselves. And really, why should they? They've got us to do it for them. America collectively said that "We'll be there as long as it takes". Lifetime coddling! Music to a welfare recipient's ears! And no matter who wins in 2008, we'll continue to do so.

Bush should have never went into Iraq in retribution for 9/11, that said, our troops are doing the best they can under the circumstances they were thrown into. It is a sad situation which there is no good answer. I too believe the troops should be removed from the area and let the government there do what they can. I do believe however that with the mentality of the people of that part of the world another dictator will be seated there soon after we leave. Which will make all our deaths here mute and for nothing. Unseating Saddam though idealistically may have been for a good cause, did more damage than good. No weapons of mass destruction, no attacks on American soil, although he was a tryrant to his own people we had no right to invade and "make them be democratic" as was the original thought from baby shrub. Who by the way is a mess.

As a military man, It's good to hear "support the Troops", But on the other hand supporting the troops doesn't mean supporting the current admin., whichever it might be. And also to say the only thing"those people understand and need is a strongman" is like saying American's only understand enslavement because of this country's past, so is this true?

Also they fought Iran for eight years defending their country, and when that oil gets up and running like we all know it will when we leave, we'll be in their line with our gas cards in our hands, so I'm not sure if welfare state is quite so accurate.

why would the iraquis support us when we are always talking about the illegal war, or how and when were gonna bail. They think in terms of centuries, not weeks like us. To them is life and death. They arnt gonna jump on with us when they know the libs/ commies here will eventually pull out. The next day, they would be hanging from lampposts or watching thier childern being tortured and raped.
The only thing to do now is to stay.... forever. I actually like it a lot less than you libs/ commies but to pull out now is to create an even bigger problem for the future. We can play the blame bush game, which does nothing but feed the enemy strength, or we can take responsibility for our actions for once.
i say take the oil, and thier virgins and hang another star on the flag.
