Like a lot of folks in this state I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test... Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them??

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ass. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?????

expect to pay more taxes for the cost of a lot of UA's. Now that a whole lot of people have lost the money they get from your taxes what are they going to do. some will get jobs but the majority won't and will end up stealing to get what they need and end up in jail which your taxes in the end would be paying for anyway.

actually no one should get drug tested

but if anyone does

then those that serve in thes govt

(those elected mostly) should be required to

they should not pass laws they do not have to abide by

as for those on govt assistance

they do not usually risk their lives or the lives of others

which is supposedly the reason for the test

but most of us know it is a way to try and cut cost

for insurance companies (kinda like the seat belt and no smoking laws)

just a thought

but hey what do i know

We do offer them a chance to further their education...and the majority would rather sit on their asses......smoke more crack......and if they had to actually do something like go to school or work, then they would miss watching Jerry Springer...and Maury

kickinbooty .....

Welfare is a government program, which is paid for by taxes generated by you and most of us on this site. I am not an expert on this, but I do know that to receive certain government subsidies, one cannot have a criminal record and has to be drug free. In that connection, my feeling is that welfare recipients have done nothing to lower their expectation of privacy. They are no different than virtually every member of the general population who chooses to make use of some form of governmental benefits, including any type pf welfare programs, tax credits, medical insurance, and scholarships. Consequently, I am in agreement with you in that there should be random urine testing for those on welfare.

Incidentally, education opportunities are offered for Welfare recipients in the form of government grants. One can get all the details on that from any high school counselor, or from the trade school/college/university involved. Of course, these grants are not going to get one into an Ivy League School. The grants are geared towards Community Colleges and Trade Schools and Two Year Institutes.
