I hate to post this so soon after his happy birthday thread. But Mikey and his family very much needs our prayers today and this week.

He called me Friday to tell me he would be off-line for a while. His cousin, someone he was very close to, was found brutally murdered in Denver on Thursday. He was flying to Denver to bring her body back to her family and will be taking care of family business for a little while.

For anyone who knows Mikey (and to those who don't), Mikey is one of the most caring men I've ever had the privilege of knowing. He is always there with a joke, or a shoulder when you need one. He would do anything for anyone, if it is in his power. So, please, send a prayer, a hug, or whatever is in your power to give so that he knows he's not alone in this.

Mikey when a loved one is taken away.
We sit and wonder why this happen today.
These are words we all dread.
To hear and at times it is hard to look ahead.
Knowing they will no longer be there for us to see.
Trying to figure out why this had to be.
Just remember God has gained and Angel today.
Soon she will receive her wings and fly away.
Even though this earth she had to depart.
There is a place she will always be within your heart.
But always remember when you are down.
Don’t forget all you must do is look around.
You see there will always be a friend.
That will stick by you till the end.

WOW! I will so be praying for Mikey and his family.

Mikey, all I can say is I know exactly what you are feeling. This kind of tragedy is absolutely horrible. I found my brother shot to death in 2002 and then another brother frozen to death (homicide) in 2004 and of course my husbands tragic death in 2006. You will need all the strength you can muster for your family. You are strong and a true survivor. I will think of you and your family. Always remember the friends that care about you and will be praying for you and yours. God bless her and take her in his arms for all eternity.
