People here are crying out to work , companies are crying out for workers . Those who want to work are willing to do whatever but then the companies refuse them the job , it’s like they are wanted rocket scientists or something or just being ultra picky and I mean this for like shop work , cafes etc , which to me seems crazy , if they are desperate for workers why not give them a chance You would think keeping the shops open would be a priority.. are there prejudices involved//age, color, religion etc? |

just being synical, but, it is kinda hard to convince them to go to work, when they can sit at home, and get un employment + 2-300.on top of it. it use to be, that if you were called in to work, you had to go to the interview or show proof you looked for work to keep your unemployment. now it is a machine that asks if you looked for work, yes or no. yes , gets you your check. offered more to stay home. Personal choice I guess. |

For decades employers have been treating workers as cheap easily replaceable cogs in the machine. It's payback time!!!! Indeed. Even before the virus hit our shores, my company had difficulties filling vacancies. Seems, people prefer Monday-Friday 9-5 jobs  choices right now. |

Driving through town today, nearly every store/shop has a Help Wanted sign out front..Taco Bell was offering a start rate of $16 an hour just to get you to talk to them. Jobs are going begging. My mate went into work at 4:30pm and he just called to say they are closing the Casino for 2 weeks (again) paid (again.) 2 unvaccinated co-workers got the variant. Your town have extra jobs they cannot fill? Ma'am, would you and "The Squeeze" like your Nachos Bell Grande super sized? |

I bought the last Monte Carlo off the '74 line at GM in Fremont
had to give up the roof window as they already closed the line.. sold it to 2 guys in Iran a few years later because it had no catalytic converter which they did not want. Loved that car, I got tilt/turn driver seat, so you could exit the seat in a mini skirt ;-) Every bang and whistle. Cranberry with a black Landau roof..I could have lived in it ;-) |

I watch all the YouTube Vlogs on off-grid living..fascinating.. right now I am hooked on all the ex-pats moving to central Portugal where the land is abandoned and cheap..one is building an 'earth home' from filled bags of dirt..so cool ;-) But many of them are renovating, or have renovated their RV's ;-) |

Like Cleve said, just listening is often mistaken for good conversation.
I might also ask their opinion on just about anything (not Politics or Religion.) Take in what they say. Respond it IT rather than offer your own. Real conversation stems from sincerity..pat answers will not cut it. |
